Fastnacht is an annual festival celebrated in Germany and Switzerland. It’s a grand old affair where folks dress up in exaggerated masks and feast on super tasty foods. It’s typically held the day before Ash Wednesday, as it’s meant to be one last day of excess before everyone dials things back for Lent, same deal as Mardi Gras. The Fastnacht
Festival is also held in Fallout 76, and with it comes a myriad of wacky masks, one of the rarest being the Loon. Here’s how to get the Fasnacht Loon Mask in Fallout 76.
How to Get the Fasnacht Loon Mask in Fallout 76
Obtaining Fasnacht masks requires the completion of a special questline that’s only available during a Fasnacht celebration. Unfortunately, as Fallout 76 is an online game, that means Fasnacht only comes around once a year in real-time. If Fasnacht’s not running right now, you’ll have to either find a player that’s willing to trade you the mask you want, or just wait until next year’s Fasnacht.
When a Fasnacht event is running in Fallout 76, a parade will be marching through Helvetia. If you talk to the Master of Ceremonies, a Mister Handy robot wearing a top hat, he’ll ask you to locate five of the parade’s Protectron marchers. These Protectrons will spawn in random spots around town, each offering a certain request. There are eight potential requests that can appear, and they are as follows:
- Cheerful Beekeeper: Defeat the Honey Beasts at the Honey Haus
- Happy Candlemaker: Donate Beeswax from the Honey Haus hives to the Candlemaker
- Gleeful Butcher: Donate Intestines from animals at the Butcher’s Cooler
- Jolly Baker: Donate Radtoad Eggs from the stream to the Pantry
- Convivial Historian: Bringt Old Fasnacht Steins to the Museum for analysis
- Joyous Musician: Play music with the Musician
- Jubilant Decorator: Help the Decorator with the Barn
- Merry Woodsman: Add Wood to the bonfire
Once you clear their request, the Protectron marchers will return to the parade proper. When you finish helping all five, the parade will begin, and the Protectrons will march with the Master of Ceremonies. Enemies will begin appearing in waves, so you’ll need to fight them off and ensure the Protectrons’ survival until the parade ends at the Church bonfire.
When the parade ends, the Master of Ceremonies will give you your reward. Depending on how quickly you cleared the Protectrons’ requests and how many of them survived to the end of the parade, you’ll receive better rewards, including rarer masks. If you’re lucky, it’ll be the Loon mask you’re looking for.
Again, this event only runs around February or March in real life. If it’s not Fasnacht right now, you’ll need to seek out another player with a Loon mask and trade them something for it.
What are the rarest Fasnacht masks?
Besides the Loon mask, the other Fasnacht masks with a Rare grade are as follows:
- Hag
- Fiend
- Brahmin
- Buffoon
- Crazy Guy
- Deathclaw
- Demon
- Raven
- Father Winter
- Winter Man
Is the Fasnacht skull mask rare?
Nope, the Skull mask is just an Uncommon grade. Slightly harder to obtain than the most basic masks, but still perfectly attainable from the Fasnacht event, not to mention probably a lot easier to trade for than the Loon mask.
