How to get Glimmering Essence in Genshin Impact

Travelers are busy exploring the new subzero climate Dragonspine region in Genshin Impact‘s The Chalk Prince and The Dragon update. If you’re fresh to the game or just came back to explore the new region, you might be a bit overwhelmed by all the new content. There’s one main event going on right now until January 5, in which you’ll learn about Albedo’s story and assist him with a few things. For Act II, you’ll need to gather a bunch of Glimmering Essence. Here’s how to get Glimmering Essence in Genshin Impact.

Glimmering Essence is a collection of vital energy that exudes a faint glimmer of light. You can exchange it for items in the event shop during the event, “The Calk Prince and The Dragon.” In other words, the Glimmering Essence is an event-exclusive limited-time currency.

How to get Glimmering Essence in Genshin Impact

You can get Glimmering Essence by completing the Act II main story quest and then finishing “Testing Grounds” events in Dragonspine. These show up on the map with a red and blue icon. Only one Testing Grounds can be active at any time. Upon completing it, a new one will pop up in a new nearby location.

Each Testing Grounds requires you to defeat a specific number of enemies. There are usually three or so waves of foes to take on. After you finish, open up the chest where you activated the event, and you’ll get some Glimmering Essence.

You’ll need to complete the Testing Grounds 16 times total to get credit for the Act II event quest and obtain your free Primogems. By that point, you should have around 2400 Glimmering Essence. You can spend these in the Event shop to get another Festering Desire sword. Doing that allows you to finish up the Act II event quests.
