How to Complete Lost in the Snow and Find Joel’s Father in Genshin Impact

There are a few new world quests available for the Dragonspine region, and you can pick these up from the adventure camp before heading into the area. One of these quests is from a boy named Joel, who has lost touch with his father that went venturing into the mountains. Here’s a guide on how to complete Lost in the Snow and find Joel’s father in Genshin Impact.

There are two parts to this quest, and the first sends you into the western slopes of Dragonspine. After finding the first clue, you’ll be sent to another location near the Dragonspine Statue of the Seven. You can pick this quest up at any time from Joel at the adventure camp southeast of Springvale. Let’s get started. 

How to Complete Lost in the Snow and Find Joel’s Father in Genshin Impact

The first objective is to go to the mountain’s western slope to search for Joel’s father. I’d recommend taking the waypoint north of the Entombed City – Ancient Palace and following the path westward. Continue following it as it bends to the south, and then take a right at the valley. Go to the marker shown on the map below. You’ll see some supplies on the ground next to a small campsite. Investigate the Neatly-Written note.

Next, travel to the Statue of the Seven waypoint and make your way around the giant hole in the ground to the west. There’s a cave on the other side of it, and if you use your vision, you should see some breakable rocks on the right. Destroy the barrier and make your way inside.

You will see another campsite, with some more supplies. Investigate the Scribbled Note, and you’ll learn Joel’s father ducked into the cave to avoid a snowstorm. The rocks collapsed and sealed him in here. Food was dwindling, so he had to resort to climbing down a cliff and jumping to safety.

Apparently, if you place the food in the bowl next to the camp as the notes say, a fox will come. You’ll get a full 50 Primogems and the fox will lead you to the father’s bag. Unfortunately, I cannot verify that because I didn’t do it. Place two berries in the dish to find out.

Quest Completion and Investigations

Next, return to the adventure camp and speak with Joel. He says he is sure that his father made it out, and will continue waiting for him. You’ll complete the Lost in the Snow quest here, and receive 40 Primogems, 2 Hero’s Wit, and 300 Adventure EXP.

After some investigation, we found the father’s backpack and the Boar Princess VI book near the snow patch he mentioned. If you continue through the cave and look down off the cliff, you can see a backpack. It looks like Joel’s father either ran out of supplies and froze or fell down the cliff. We could be wrong, but it looks like Joel’s father isn’t coming back any time soon.
