This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The main character can swap between elements, making him a strong addition to any team. However, you may not be aware of how to do this mechanic. Luckily, it’s a simple process that you can complete by teleporting to a specific area. Here’s how to change element with the Main Character in Genshin Impact.

How to change element with Main Character in Genshin Impact

The Main Character can change between elements by teleporting to a Statue of the Seven. Teyvat is split into two regions, at the moment, including Mondstadt and Liyue. Mondstadt has all Anemo Statue of the Seven, whereas Liyue has all Geo Statue of the Seven. There is an associated Oculus for each region, with Anemoculus being the one for Mondstadt and Geoculus being the one for Liyue.

In other words, if you want to change your main character to the Geo element, pick any Statue of the Seven in Liyue and teleport to it. Interact with the statue and select Resonate with Geo. Likewise, if you want to change to Anemo, teleport to any Statue of the Seven in Mondstadt, and select Resonate with Anemo

At the time of release, this means you can swap between Geo (Earth) and Anemo (Wind). Switching between Geo and Anemo gives you different element skills and element burst skills. You may require them if you don’t have a character of a specific element and need to interact or activate an object in the world.

For example, one Geoculus is challenging to reach without using the Main Character’s Geo skill. The Geo skill allows you to place a sphere and jump on top of it to heighten your jump. Switching elements also comes in handy if let’s say you do not have any Anemo character, for instance, and need one to activate something or complete a puzzle.

Keep in mind that this is bound to change as new content gets added with future patches like 1.1. The Main Character may soon be able to change between many more elements.
