In order to complete this encounter, which is only one part of many in the Root of Nightmares raid, you will need to do a couple of different things. Firstly, you need to have passed the first encounter successfully, and then you can begin the second challenge. That step was obvious! Without any further ado, here’s how you can complete the second encounter in the Root of Nightmares raid.

Node Mayhem!

To start, make sure that you connect the nodes that spawn across the gap of the second encounter, which has three different levels of this node challenge. In order to connect nodes, you need to activate them first. This can be done by shooting the corresponding orb for that node, which will turn it on and grant any Guardians within its aura two buffs. These are the Sweeping Terror debuff (which lasts 35 seconds) as well as the Field of Light buff (with a duration of 15 seconds). After the orb has been shot, the node will be powered up, and it will then point towards the second node to hint at its location. This means the node has been connected and you can now move on to the next one. Once you have successfully connected all of the nodes for a level you’ll see a piston activate which will then get you to the next level. Have one player head for the piston while others (if you’re playing in a group) continue to keep your foes at bay.

Defeating Immune Enemies

Defeat all of the enemies that spawn in while you connect the nodes, and work together so that you can take down the immune enemies. Some of the baddies you’ll be up against include Tormentors, which are the newest enemy to be added into Destiny 2 with the latest update. You will also have to face off against Psions, as well as a few Barrier enemies. The immune hostiles that you fight (not all of them will be immune, however) will not take damage from your attacks unless you use the Field of Light buff first, after which they’ll quickly succumb to damage from your weapons. You will be able to get the Field of Light buff by standing within the aura of a node when it gets activated (which you can do by shooting the orb). All of these enemies spawn randomly, however they tend to appear closer to where the majority of your Fireteam is which makes them more convenient to defeat in battle.

Take Out the Miniboss

A Major will spawn after you have powered all of the nodes, so defeat this miniboss to continue towards the next stage. Usually Majors will spawn near the majority of your Fireteam, which means you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled after you connect the last node to avoid an ambush! To defeat this adversary, have your entire team focus on the unfortunate Major and quickly decimate its health points with your weapons. You’ll need to do this three different times, once per stage, in order to finish the level. Congratulations, but don’t rest on your laurels because you’ve got more encounters to go! Good luck, Guardian!
