How to Get Trophy Crystals in FFXIV

How to Get Trophy Crystals in FFXIV

Any good MMORPG is constantly evolving and changing itself up to keep its playerbase entertained and engaged. Final Fantasy XIV certainly knows how to do that, which is probably how it became one of the biggest come-from-behind MMO successes in the last few years. The game’s latest effort to keep things interesting is a limited-time PvP mode, and with that mode comes its own special currency. Here’s how to get Trophy Crystals in FFXIV.

FFXIV’s most recent major update introduced Crystalline Conflict, a brand new limited-time instanced PvP mode. It’s a pretty simple game mode, and will feel familiar if you’ve ever played payload matches in games like Team Fortress 2 or Overwatch. Two teams vie for control over a big crystal situated at the center of the arena, and the first team to force the crystal all the way to end of the track and into their opponent’s territory wins.

Crystalline Conflict comes with its own special prize currency known as Trophy Crystals. Every player that participates in a round of Crystalline Conflict will earn some Trophy Crystals at the end, though obviously you’ll earn a lot more if you win the round. You’ll also earn big stacks of Trophy Crystals from leveling up your Series Malmstones, and these earnings will be multiplied based on how high your Crystalline Conflict PvP rank is.

Once you’re rolling in Trophy Crystals, go visit the Wolves’ Den Pier to find the special Trophy Crystal vendor. You can trade them your Trophy Crystals for some neat stuff, including items that were just added to the game like the Protonaught Minion and the Wolf Barding. If that stuff doesn’t catch your eye, you can also save your Trophy Crystals, as more items will be added and rotated out in the vendor’s stock over the next few weeks.
