Firstly, for those who don’t know what this special card is about, generally, this is how EA connects real-game events with in-game activities. During the Showdown SBC, you will be able to complete SBC challenges to receive corresponding Showdown players. For each selected match, each team will have one player picked out to be in the Showdown SBC. However, unlike other normal SBC or card types, Showdown players will receive up to +2 OVR boost according to the result of the picked matches.
To be specific, in the event of a draw, both items will receive a +1 OVR boost. Otherwise, players from the winning team will receive a +2 OVR boost while the losing team will receive no boost. This kind of SBC is only available for a limited time, between 48-72 hours only. So, you had better make up your mind soon, or else you might miss out on an end-game item.
This Gerard Pique Showdown card receives tons of upgrades compared with his gold version, especially his Pace attribute. Specifically, from 58 of the gold version, his Pace reaches 80. Dribbling also gets a boost of 10, reaching 78. You might question, why do you need high Dribbling stats at a Center Back? The reason is if your CB is both agile and fast at the same time, he will be more flexible and have a better reaction in one on one duels. With 89 Defending overall and no constituting stat is under 87, in company with an excellent Physicality stat set with a height of 6’4″, 85kg weight, 89 Strength, 86 Jumping, both aerial or ground duel cannot make Pique flinch. For me, this card is the embodiment of prime Gerard Pique in the golden era of Barcelona, from 2009-2015, when he was one of the most well-rounded defenders you could find.
So, in between Niklas Sule and Gerard Pique Showdown, I think I would opt for Pique even though Barca is the underdog at this match, which means it is likely that Pique won’t receive any overate boost eventually.
