FIFA 23: Extensive Guide To Playing AFC Richmond

Ted Lasso is a sports comedy-drama by Jason Sudeikis about an American coach who hardly knows anything about football (soccer). Still, his enthusiastic leadership helped his team (AFC Richmond), and surprisingly, rise to be one of the competing teams in the Premier League. 

Due to the TV show’s popularity, EA Sports included AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso in its newest version of the FIFA series, FIFA 2023. FIFA players who are also fans of Ted Lasso were thrilled by this announcement. Ted Lasso and the whole AFC Richmond team are playable in FIFA 2023 across numerous gameplay modes, such as Kick Off Mode and Career Mode.

How to play AFC Richmond in Kick Off Mode

If you want to play with friends, locally or online, AFC Richmond is available in Kick Off. To begin, choose Kick Off mode under Quickplay modes in FIFA 2023 Home and access Classic Match afterward. To select AFC Richmond as your playing team, it will be under the Rest of the World teams.

When you have chosen AFC Richmond to be your team, you will be able to see the players, where you will be able to see a templated line-up based on the series. Additionally, you will have access to each of the player’s profiles, skill sets, ratings, and positions.

You can now start the match and begin playing as AFC Richmond against your friends. Ted Lasso and the AFC Richmond are also available in other single-player and online gaming modes (Quickplay, Pro Clubs, and Seasons). Remember that the AFC Richmond team is always found under Rest of the World.

How to play AFC Richmond in Career Mode

Select create a new career under Career in Home. You will then be asked to create a new manager and select play as the real manager. Go to the Rest of the World option and select Ted Lasso as the manager of your team. By selecting Ted Lasso, you will be automatically given AFC Richmond as a team, and its details will be given to you as well. 

To have AFC Richmond as your team, you need to swap it with one of the teams already in the Premier League. Select a team to swap over, and to officially exchange, select Financial Takeover. After doing all of these, choose and select Advanced, and now you have AFC Richmond as your team in Premier League in Career Mode.

AFC Richmond Player Ratings

As part of the Rest of the World League, AFC Richmond is rated 78 overall, putting them in close proximity to Wolves and Everton. AFC Richmond’s full roster, along with their potential, can be found below:

A rating of 84 indicates that Jamie Tartt, a prodigious loanee from Manchester City, outperformed his stats. This player is already an elite ball carrier with a weak foot of four stars, a skill set of five stars, and a dribbling rating of almost ninety. Aside from that, he has a very good pace of eighty, good finishing of eighty-six, and strength of eighty, making him a very good multi-purpose player. Similarly, as seen in the show, he is an adept free kicker and penalty taker, with stats of ninety.

Jamie Tartt also has a fantastic strike partner in Danny Rojas. Combined with his dribbling and finishing skills, 85 in rating, he has a deadly combination. Further down the pitch, Sam Obisanya also plays exceptionally well. In addition to his pace, cross, stamina, and dribbling scores, Sam has an outstanding score on everything else.

Moe Bumbercatch in midfield is one of the biggest surprises. It’s easy to find him reliable in many situations despite his low rating overall, with a very weak foot, a stamina rating of 80, and decent defending. Those alone would make him stand out, but on top of that, he’s an expert shuttler who can hang with the best.

The last notable player to note is Roy Kent. Having an aggression rating of 95 (the team’s highest in the game) means Roy Kent should win every 50-50 and be able to keep the ball at all times, which is a shame because he is the legend (as seen in the series).

Formation

The best formation to play with the AFC Richmond is a 4-2-2-2 formation. Where Zoreaux is the goalkeeper, Dixon is the right-wing defender, McAdoo, and Maas are the central defenders, and Goodman is the left-wing defender. For the midfielders, specifically for the centers, we have Kent for mostly defense and Bumbercatch for attacking. Additionally, we have Obisanya for the right-wing attacking midfielder and Hughes for the left wing. Lastly, we have two strikers, Rojas and Tartt.

Tactics

Use a “balanced” defensive style for the tactics with a width and depth of forty (40) and forty-five (45), respectively. Moreover, for the offensive side, we have both builds of play and chance creation in “balanced” with a width of fifty (50), four (4) bars for players in the box, and, lastly, two (2) bars for free kicks.

Instruction Settings

For the instructions of each player, we have Dixon (the right defender ) and Goodman (the left defender) both stay back while attacking. For both central defenders, the default setting should be used. For Kent (midfielder), change the instructions to defensive behavior and stay back while attacking. For Obisanya and Hughes, instruct them to get into the box for crosses. Finally, for both the strikers, Rojas and Tartt have their instructions to get “in behind” during attacking runs.
