Escape From Tarkov: Gunsmith Part 1 Mechanic Task Guide

It's Time to Barter and Buy!

In Escape From Tarkov, you’ll eventually be tasked with modding a weapon for a character named Mechanic. This weapon is specifically an MP-133, and what’s more, the character has a bunch of specific mods they’d like done. But, there seems to be more than one way to pull this off. Read on if you’re struggling with completing this mission in a way that satisfies Mechanic.

Here are the specs that the finished MP-133 must meet: it must have a durability of 60, there must be at least 47 ergonomics, and the recoil should be no greater than 850. It must use up less than 5 space cells, and the magazine should be capable of carrying six units of ammo. In addition, you’ll need to add some kind of tactical device as the pièce de résistance.

As you’re probably aware, the MP-133 is a shotgun that can be purchased from Jaeger at loyalty level 1. To complete this task, you’ll need to acquire six different mods that vary in overall difficulty. Thankfully, most of them can be purchased from Jaeger, Skier, or Mechanic.

For starters, you’ll need to nab a custom plastic forestock with rails, which can either be purchased from Mechanic through a barter, or Jaeger at loyalty level 2. Alas, according to Escape From Tarkov content creator Geekseh, the average player won’t be hitting that loyalty level for a while, so your best bet is to get this mod from Mechanic. It should be noted that you’ll need a damaged hard drive to barter with.

In terms of a grip, you’ll need to acquire a plastic pistol grip, which can be bought from Jaeger at loyalty level 1. While you’re there, you’d might as well pick up an ME Cylinder 12ga Muzzle Adapter from Jaeger, as that’s another of the six mods you’ll need for this mission.

The Last Mod

Now, it’s time to head for Skier. At Skier’s loyalty level 1, you can purchase an NcSTAR Tactical Blue Laser LAM-module and the Zenit RK-6 tactical foregrip. That leaves only one mod left — the GK-02 12ga Muzzle Brake. This can only be acquired from Jaeger loyalty level 2. But, we’ve already established that you’re not likely to get there this early. So, how can you possibly complete the mission?

According to Geekseh, the most likely method of acquiring this final part is by looting it from a shotgun-wielding Scav. So, keep your eyes out and you’ll inevitably get this piece for yourself sooner than later. As soon as you’ve nabbed this last mod, install them onto the MP-133 and turn it in to Mechanic!
