Ancient’s Pledge

Ancient’s Pledge is an easy Runeword to acquire at the end of Normal difficulty. You can obtain the runes for it by completing the Rescue on Mount Arreat quest from Qual-Kehk at the beginning of Act V. While the level requirement is a bit high, it’s still obtainable in normal difficulty.

Steel

Steel is by far one of the easiest Runewords to make in D2R, considering it uses two out of the three most common runes. It’s a good recipe to make for any melee character utilizing a sword, axe, or mace. You can pick up the base required item from vendors, and it only requires level 13.

Malice

Malice is another Runeword that’s easy to make considering it uses very common runes: Ith, El, and Eth. There’s a good chance you get these runes from the Countess in the Forgotten Tower. You can make this Runeword in any melee weapon, and it’s especially good on your mercenary.

Leaf

Leaf is a solid Sorceress, Druid, and Assassin Runeword due to its +3 to fire skills attribute. Not to mention, it’s fairly easy to find these runes from the Countess. You can also pick up the base required staff from Akara. If you are playing any of the three aforementioned classes, especially Sorceress, you’ll want to make use of this one as soon as possible at level 17.

Stealth

Stealth is easily the best low-level Runeword, and it’s not too difficult to make, either. The base item is very easy to find or shop from Charsi the blacksmith in the Act I Rogue Encampment. Again, you can get all of the runes from the Countess on normal difficulty. Stealth grants some nice FCR, mana regeneration, run and walk speed, and some decent resistance.

The resulting recipe gives the item magical properties and powerful attributes. Runewords first made their way into the Diablo series during the Diablo 2 expansion, Lord of Destruction. They were not a part of Diablo 3, but a rework of the system will be coming to Diablo 4.

How to make a Runeword in Diablo 2 Resurrected

To make Runewords, you will need a gray item with the appropriate number of sockets and the required runes for a given recipe. If you need to create an item with sockets, you can do so by using a specific horadric cube recipe or talking to Larzuk in the Act 5 town. Larzuk gives the maximum sockets to any white or gray item based on its item level, once per difficulty.

Are there Ladder Only Diablo 2 Resurrected Runewords?

As per an official Blizzard announcement, Diablo 2 Resurrected Rune Words are all included in non-ladder play. That means there are no more ladder-exclusives ones!
