Taking a deep dive into the various characters of Chained Echoes, here is our ranking based on the moves and abilities of each character, their individual likability factor, and their overall affect on the party dynamics.
From the standard jobs like thief, bard, and archer, to unique ones like the lizard demihuman with arms and legs controlled by magic, Chained Echoes gives us a twist to the typical JRPG archetypes.
All Characters in Chained Echoes, Ranked
12/12: ROBB
Robb might have his usefulness at the beginning, but his personality is cold and cruel, and his redemption arc is small in comparison to other more prominent characters in Chained Echoes.
Despite his negativity, he is a talented and helpful archer. His poison/pandemic combo does well to deliver passage damage while taking care of enemies.
As an archer, he has his uses, the best of which is his paralyze shot. Set Robb up to extend on hits, and then use Sienna to deliver the final blow on all of his paralyzed victims. This strategy gives Robb some redemption qualities despite everything else.

11/12: MAGNOLIA
When you first meet Magnolia, you’re immediately taken to a backroom and dropped into the mind of a man in a coma, tasked with bringing him out of it. It’s quite the introduction!
Magnolia is skilled with magic, but the amount of RNG required for her skills ranks her lower on our list. However, she is essential when you reach later chapters in the game, so don’t completely write her off.
10/12: EGYL
A noble knight to the end, Egyl will sacrifice everything to protect those under his charge. He’s very useful and can get you through rough battles, but because he’s introduced so late in the game as a permanent party member, you don’t need him as much. By this point in the game, you should already have fine-tuned and established ranks like Kylian and Glenn. Still, Egyl proves his worth.
9/12: TOMKE
Tomke is the blue mage of Chained Echoes. However, instead of learning moves based on what attacks him, Tomke transforms enemies into canned goods for future consumption. That’s right folks, like Soylent Green, these enemy-converted preservatives give Tomke his moves.
After canning an enemy, Tomke recalls lost memories, making available another character. He also gains powerful abilities, such as the Popeye-inspired Spinach Power, which grants both physical and magical attack shields for all active party members.
8/12: RAPHAEL
With his faith previous shaken and depleted, Raphael comes across a little girl and rescues her from vampires, restoring some of his spirit. He joins the party as a tank, hitting a little harder than the others.
Since you already have plenty of tanks at this point in the game, Raphael is less useful and has to catch up to the other characters in order to really contribute. However, his TP regenerative skills alone is worth giving him the chance.
7/12: LENNE
Don’t underestimate Lenne! Despite keeping her princess identity a secret and displaying an initial lack of strength, she holds the most amount of elemental attacks out of your entire squad. She can be set up as a power hitter to specifically target the weakness of your foe.
She inflicts damage across the board with her Ultra Move when she summons a giant, non-elemental spear. Compared to other ultra moves, it might seem limited, but Lenne is still a great choice any time you want to deliver a surge of damage.
6/12: AMALIA
The gun-wielding princess, Amalia might seem weak at first when you initially rescue her from the enemy base, but never underestimate her. She becomes your dedicated healer!
5/12: GLENN
The best character arc of the story and protagonist is Glenn. He’s supposed to be your fast DPS, but is often overshadowed by stronger, supporting characters. Once he unlocks his All Break ability, which reduces all enemies’ stats/turns, he becomes increasingly stronger with each level up. When partnered with Lenne, he’s great at prepping the enemy for Lenne’s elemental barrage.
4/12: VICTOR
Victor is a bard who infuses magic into his music–a highly valuable addition to the team. Don’t bother using his rapier attacks. Victor is a powerhouse for magical support and can help with all your HP and TP needs, all while mitigating damage.
Also, until Amalia shows up, Victor is your dedicated healer.
3/12: BA’THRAZ
An honorable mercenary who turns down jobs to preserve their high reputation, he often refers to himself as “we” and “us”. Every time you perform an attack that isn’t a Summon Weapon, somehow it still summons a weapon that Ba’Thraz has been saving up for. It takes a bit of learning to understand how to use Ba’Thraz, but once you’ve mastered his skills as a magic caster, he proves to be of high value. Oftentimes, Ba’Thraz can end the fight when they unleash the raw power of their magic weapons on the entire enemy horde. Master his summoning weapons moves, and you’ll dominate in Chained Echoes.
2/12: MIKAH
Mikah is only second to Sienna in strength. She is quite unique, even when compared to this motley crew of characters. Her turns work together as a combo in combat, each move more powerful than the next. The damage she inflicts on both single targets and group targets is hard to beat.
1/12: SIENNA
Most gamers of Chained Echoes would agree that Sienna is the strongest assassin in the game. With powerful attacks from the start, Sienna becomes your most valuable member of the team. Highly in favor of agility, once you max out her moves and apply her crit biff, she transforms into an unstoppable power and a force against all enemies. She even has the capability to move twice in a turn after you’ve fully boosted her agility. Sienna is the powerhouse slugger.
