Diablo 2 Resurrected – does beta progress carry over?

Diablo 2 Resurrected – does beta progress carry over?

Diablo 2 Resurrected is finishing up with its first Early Access Beta period on August 16. It’s been a nostalgia-filled weekend for many fans of the classic hack-and-slash RPG title from Blizzard. However, with the access window winding down until next week, it leaves many players wondering: does beta progress carry over into release for Diablo 2 Resurrected?

For most people familiar with open betas, especially those from Blizzard, you likely already know the answer. We’re here to clear it up for you, though.

Does beta progress carry over to release?

Diablo 2 Resurrected Early Access and Open Beta progress do not carry over to the official game release. These tests are also online-only, which means you cannot simply hold onto your save file in hopes that it works.

The good news is that if you are participating in both the Early Access and Open Betas in August, you can carry your progress over between the two events. There will certainly be a global wipe, though, when the official launch date comes.

In fact, most games never allow beta progress to carry over into a full game’s release. Since it is limited-time access for a handful of players, it would not be fair to everyone else who could not play during that time. This is especially true for a game like Diablo, where competing in seasonal ladders and progression is part of the fun.
