Where to Find Orca Whales in Sons of the Forest

The hunter becomes the hunted

Sons of the Forest is the downright terrifying sequel to The Forest, a survival horror game that terrorized the gaming world back in 2014. This game is somehow even scarier than the first game, if you loved struggling to survive in The Forest then there’s no way you won’t enjoy playing Sons of the Forest.

One of the new deadly creatures in Sons of the Forest (other than cannibals and mutants) is the orca whale. Orca whales, despite their massive size, are actually some of the most elusive animals in the game, which can make hunting incredibly frustrating. Where to Find Orca Whales in Sons of the Forest

If you’ve ever tried hunting orca whales in Sons of the Forest, then you know that they’re some of the most elusive creatures in the game. Orca whales don’t really have a specified spawning point, as they kind of just spawn wherever there’s a large body of water, yet they’re nearly impossible to come across when you’re looking for one.

Hunting them can be ridiculously frustrating, but the best place to start your search will always be the beach. These killer mammals, as I previously mentioned, normally just sporadically spawn wherever there’s a large body of water, and there’s no larger body of water than the ocean. Getting in the water yourself to look for them is definitely not recommended, however.

These mammals can dive deep; they’ll definitely see you before you see them, and by the time they catch sight of you, it’s already too late. Try walking up and down the beach to catch sight of one, or get on top of some rocks to look out over the water. You’ll want every advantage you can get when hunting down orca whales in Sons of the Forest!

Always make sure not to mistake sharks for orca whales when you’re on the hunt. In the water, they can look pretty similar, but they’re surprisingly way more aggressive than the killer whales (another reason not to get in the water when looking for orcas).

If a shark sees you in the water, it’ll shoot toward you faster than a bullet, armed with crazy sharp teeth and an aggressive temper that could rival any of the island’s mutants or cannibals. Long-range weapons such as the pistol, spears, and arrows are recommended when fighting either of these waterlogged beasts.

Are Orca Whales Hostile in Sons of the Forest?

Just like in real life, orca whales in Sons of the Forest are hostile when they feel threatened. As long as you’re not in the water with one, you should be fine, but if you start swimming toward one with a spear? Good luck getting away with your life.

These whales may not seem too threatening on land, but don’t underestimate them when they’re in the water. These water-bound mammals are some of the most deadly creatures that you can come across in the game; if you decide you want to hunt one, just make sure that you’re extra prepared for the downright deadly fight that’s sure to follow.
