Can Cannibals Climb Ropes in Sons of the Forest?

As long as you've got rope, you've got hope!

Sons of the Forest is the nauseatingly terrific sequel to The Forest, a brutal survival horror game. Sons of the Forest impressively implements all of the twisted mutants, gory cannibals, and intricate lore that we know and love from the first game, and somehow makes them even better (or worse, depending on your stomach)! Sons of the Forest may not be for the weak-stomached, but it is for anyone and everyone who loves horror; if you loved playing the original game, then there’s no way that you won’t love Sons of the Forest.

Obviously, the assorted cannibals and mutants in this game are intelligent enough to form primitive societies, build complex structures, and craft some semblances of clothing, but are they smart enough to climb ropes? You’d think the answer would be obvious, but you might actually be surprised. Keep reading to find out if cannibals can climb ropes in Sons of the Forest!

Can Cannibals Climb Ropes in Sons of the Forest?

It’s obvious that cannibals in Sons of the Forest are capable of quite a lot. Thankfully, however, rope climbing doesn’t seem to be among their repertoire of skills. Cannibals and mutants alike don’t quite seem to know what to do with ropes in Sons of the Forest; when they’re presented with one after being vertically evaded by a player, they’ll just sort of blankly stare at it before giving up and turning away.

Players already have to fear cannibals in Sons of the Forest for a whole host of reasons, so knowing that irrefutable escape is always just a rope climb away is comforting. As long as you’ve got a backpack filled with ropes and are constantly surrounded by vertical escape routes, then you should have nothing to fear in Sons of the Forest! Making an above-the-ground base with a rope entrance is also a good idea if you’re worried about cannibals trying to sneak in.

How to Build Ropes in Sons of the Forest

Contrary to popular belief, there currently is no actual way to craft ropes in Sons of the Forest. There are many conflicting reports online regarding the legitimacy of rope crafting; some players swear that all you need to do to craft a rope is combine several pieces of cloth, just like in Sons of the Forest’s predecessor, The Forest. Although you’re welcome to try it, it’d be much easier to simply collect the pre-crafted ropes that can be found all over the map.

Ropes may not be currently craftable in Sons of the Forest, but you can always go out exploring and find piles of rope literally all over the map! Ropes are pretty much everywhere in this game, which is great because they can be used for just about everything.
