Xbox Game Pass is a pretty stellar service, and I’m not even being paid to say that. Getting a chance to play all sorts of games that’d be too expensive for me to buy individually has been a huge boon to my game-playing capabilities, and it helps that the selection’s pretty top-shelf. It got even better when Microsoft penned their deal with EA to give all Game Pass subscribers free access to EA Play, their own game library included. However, you’re probably wondering about whether or not you’ll get to play a very particular game coming soon. So, will Battlefield 2042 be on Game Pass?
EA announced earlier this week that starting November 12th, all EA Play subscribers will be able to play a 10-hour early access trial of Battlefield 2042, a good week before the game launches for real. This build of the game will likely be similar, if not identical, to the one that was running during the game’s open beta period. As baseline EA Play membership is included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, this offer also extends to Game Pass users.
Will Battlefield 2042 be on Game Pass?
While this 10-hour trial will allow you to tinker with all of the game’s major features, once your time’s up, that’s all you’re getting. Unfortunately, the full version of Battlefield 2042 will not be coming to Game Pass. Subscribers to the higher tier of EA Play membership, EA Play Pro, will be able to play the game for free, and even during the early access period, but since the EA Play membership included with a Game Pass subscription is just the baseline tier, that benefit does not extend to Game Pass users.
If you want to play Battlefield 2042, you’ll have to either pony up for an EA Play Pro membership, or just buy it at full price on Steam, Origin, Epic, Xbox, or PlayStation. Battlefield 2042 officially releases on November 19, 2021.
