With the explosion of FIFA 21 on Next Gen consoles, many gamers are excited for the installment of FIFA 22 this upcoming Fall. With Kylian Mbappé gracing the cover of all three FIFA 21 editions (Standard, Champion, and Ultimate), it leaves many fans wondering who will take the cover of FIFA 22. And while nobody has technically been decided on for the cover star, a few names are most likely to get the bid.
Who is on the Cover of FIFA 22?
Here are three possibilities for the cover of FIFA 22:
- Kylian Mbappé
- Erling Haaland
- Trent Alexander-Arnold
Kylian Mbappé
It seems crazy to imagine that the same player who stole all three versions of the game last year will again be the cover star of FIFA. But it could very well happen. Mbappé has delivered another world-class performance in 2021 and remains the superstar of the future for football.
Mbappé began his senior career with Ligue1 club Monaco, making his professional debut at the age of 16… Before joining PSG, he won a Ligue1 title, a Ligue1 Young Player of the Year, and the Golden Boy award. In 2017, he signed with Paris Saint-Germain on an initial loan, before transferring over permanently for a deal worth $215.5 million. A deal that made him both the second-most expensive player in the world, and the most expensive teenager ever.
Since then, Mbappé has won 3 Ligue1 titles, 2 Coupe de France titles, was named the Ligue1 Player of the Year, and has finished as the Ligue1 top scorer twice. Mbappé is also the third-highest goalscorer in the club’s history, and he’s just 22 years old. It is for these reasons that Kylian Mbappé seems like the obvious choice to reclaim the FIFA cover athlete throne.
Erling Haaland
Borussia Dortmund goal scoring machine has taken over the globe, and him alongside Mbappé could bring us the next Messi-Ronaldo rivalry for years to come. Haaland has taken Dortmund to new heights, and the Norwegian striker has been recognized for his unusual blend of size, strength, and pace. Earning him the nickname of “The Terminator”.
Before signing with Dortmund, Haaland spent two seasons with Austrian powerhouse Red Bull Salzburg (as a teenager), where he won two Austrian Bundesliga titles, and one Austrian cup. In 2019 and 2020, Haaland made the move to German club Borussia Dortmund. Since then, he became the first teenager to score in 5 consecutive UEFA Champions League matches. Winning the Golden Boy award in 2020, Erling Haaland is widely regarded as one the best strikers in football. If FIFA decides to switch it up, they could very well feature a version with The Terminator on the cover.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool have found themselves an absolute killer at just the age of 22. Alexander-Arnold made his senior debut in 2016 at 18 years old, and played in back-to-back UEFA Champions League finals in 2018 and 2019. The latter of which earned himself a spot in the Champions League Squad of the Season.
These appearances in critical games made Alexander-Arnold the youngest player to start in consecutive finals in the competition. And in the same year, he won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup as well. In EPL action, Alexander-Arnold recently won the 2019–20 PFA Young Player of the Year, and the inaugural Premier League Young Player of the Season awards. Don’t be surprised to see the Liverpool man make the cover of FIFA 22.
