Towards the start of the game, Jin will need to make his way to the stables and talk to Yuna. From there, you have a selection of three or four different horses. You will see the fourth horse if you purchased the Digital Deluxe edition. Walk up to the one you want and press R2 to select the horse. You may be wondering which one is the best, but it does not matter.

The only difference between each of the horses is how they look. You can decide between a black, white, and spotted horse. A brown horse is also available for Digital Deluxe owners. After selecting your horse, you can choose a name for it. The options for names are:

  • Nobu (Trust)
  • Sora (Sky)
  • Kage (Shadow)

Whichever name you decide to pick does not influence any other part of the game. The options here are a way for you to feel connected to your horse, who will be your traveling companion throughout the world. In terms of customization, you can select from some different saddles which are purely for looks.

Throughout the game, you can always switch to another horse whenever you come across a stable. However, switching to a new horse is temporary. The horse you chose at the beginning of the game will always come back at some point.

Overall, your horse choice does not influence any other part of the game. Pick whichever one you think looks the best and be on your way. Check out our guide for the Ghost of Tsushima Singing Cricket locations.
