Where to Find Basalt in No Man’s Sky

Is it hot, or it's just me?

Space traveling freely through the universe will sometimes land you in very secluded and dangerous places. Not long ago, in terms of macro time, our planet was in a state of constant volcanic eruption. Really some impossible living conditions. Thankfully, millions of years have passed, and now we are able to find those same planets in a video game. Go figure. Anyway, a certain element will be available for you at those places, so you better collect it while you can. Here is where to find Basalt in No Man’s Sky.

Where to Find Basalt in No Man’s Sky

You will be able to find quite an assortment of resources across all the galaxies in No Man’s Sky. Some are dependent on certain climate conditions, and some are straight up common almost everywhere. Basalt, an element used for crafting, is one of the former. Sort of. This is quite a rebel element since it’s spawn rate won’t always align to the climate conditions necessary for it to be collected.

However, if you want the best chance to encounter it, you will have to look for resource deposits that are found on volcanic planets. It’s also a secondary element that you will be able to find in some minerals in said planets as well. Your best chance is to travel to galaxies that feature this type of planets. You will boost up your chances to encounter this element.

Finally, one of the few uses for Basalt is to craft the Voltaic Amplifier. This upgrade will increase the damage output for your Multi-Tool weapons when firing on organic and inorganic objectives that are stunned. Here is the crafting recipe:

  • Basalt x70 + Ion Battery x2 + Wiring Loom x1 → Voltaic Amplifier

And that’s pretty much it for this resource. As you can see, its use is very specific, and you will have to travel to some lonely and extremely hot planets to collect it. If you do want to, then I wish you good luck finding this element and these sorts of planets. Have a nice trip, space traveler.
