There has been an issue that has plagued people just starting out in the game. Players will attempt to join an online multiplayer match, and be met with an error message stating “Joining a squad is not available for this event.” When new recruits start out in War Thunder, there are going to be a few things you’ll want to take care of before doing anything else. First, you’ll want to go ahead and make sure you complete all the tutorials the game has for you. Some thought this might remedy the issue entirely, however, this is not the case.

Some have found that even after completing all the tutorials, they still aren’t able to join an online match. It would seem the issue lies in the vehicle you have selected for use. You are not able to play PvP multiplayer if you are using a reserved or starter vehicle. This means, players will need to go ahead and research their first vehicle and equip it before heading into multiplayer. After doing so, you should have no trouble diving headfirst into the battlefield that is War Thunder.
