New World Update 1.0.4 reportedly introduces a new bug that is effectively stealing your gold from completed auctions. The bug report initially came from a New World player on Reddit, and we were able to confirm the reports by testing it on our own. For players who like to sell things at the Trading Post, this is a huge issue. Here’s what we know so far.
New World Trading Post Bug
The New World Trading Post bug, introduced in Update 1.0.4, results in players not receiving gold or items for active buy and sell orders completed when the user is offline. Here’s what the process would look like:
- A player posts a sell auction at the Trading Post.
- The player goes offline.
- Another player purchases the item while the player is offline.
- The order is complete, but the gold is not given to the seller.
The same is true in reverse and also applies to buy orders. If, for instance, you were to place a buy order for 1,000 Green Wood at 0.10, and the order completes while you are offline, your 100 Coins will be gone, but the items would not appear in your inventory.
It goes without saying that this is a massive bug that will result in players losing many coins. At the time of writing, the bug is still present, and there is no known fix.
Amazon Games is well aware of the issue, though, according to a post on the New World forums. An official response from the team states, “Thank you everyone for these reports, the team is aware of this issue, and we’ll provide updates on getting this addressed.”
In the meantime, we would advise players to take down all auctions before logging off to prevent the loss of currency. The original source states that if you have a partially sold stack, you can cancel it and receive the proper amount of gold for the sold items. You have nothing to worry about if you don’t typically use the Trading Post to buy and sell items. However, it’s proven lucrative to harvest and sell items and arbitrage items between settlements.
We’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
