New FIFA 23 Ultimate Team Chemistry System Explained

Despite alterations to just about every game mode in FIFA 23, Ultimate Team is still projected to be the number one attraction for most players. And while much of the popular game mode should remain the same, chemistry has been completely revamped.

Previously, building a squad with chemistry was pretty easy. All you had to do was find players from the same domestic league or nationality and line them up to create a high-powered FIFA Ultimate Team. Now, FIFA 23 tasks players with increasing the chemistry of individual players rather than the squad as a whole.

In FIFA 22, each player was given a chemistry rating out of 10 and then the team’s overall chemistry rating would be calculated out of 100. However, the overall chemistry (which essentially combines the team and individual chemistry) would remain hidden. Now, players can earn up to three chemistry points per match and they will have a score anywhere from zero to three.

Not only that but the negative impact on attributes caused by low chemistry has been removed as well as the idea of squad chemistry. The positions players play on the pitch also no longer impact team chemistry. So, in FIFA 23, the main focus will be to maximize individual chemistry for each player.

That being said, playing in a preferred position can boost individual chemistry as well as chemistry thresholds for certain clubs, countries, and leagues. For example, up to three additional chemistry points can be earned if you play high-level players from the same club, country, or league. So, positioning is still considered a mandatory requirement for chemistry because only a player who is playing in their preferred position can enable it.
