One of the more notable aspects about Warzone 2.0 that is sure to be a game-changer for most, is the fact that something called “Proximity Chat” is now a thing in-game. But what is it? How does it work? We’ll explain that and get to the bottom of how Proximity Chat will affect Warzone 2.0.

How Will Proximity Chat Affect Warzone 2.0? Explained

Perhaps the most colorful new innovation in the Call of Duty gameplay formula is that of the Proximity Chat feature that’s been added not only to Modern Warfare 2 but also Warzone 2.0. How it works is that the closer you get in proximity to enemy players, the more you can hear them speaking if they’re using a microphone.

And of course, while most folks would assume this is going to be a method only used for trash-talking, and it can most definitely be used that way, its integrated focus is to be used for tactical situations. More specifically in game modes like DMZ where enemy players can opt to work together. This gives you the chance to use, the “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” method of thinking.

Whether it’s to play tactically, role-play a bit, or even throw an enemy off, there’s a lot of payoff with the new Proximity Chat feature if you’re going to use it as intended. Luckily, for those who take trash-talking to the next level, Activision’s safeguarding steps ensure that toxic players won’t be speaking for too long.

If you don’t want to use proximity chat yourself though, you can always toggle it off as it is enabled by default.

  • To disable proximity chat, head to your settings screen.
  • Select the audio tab.
  • Then scroll down to the proximity chat switch in the voice chat sections and turn it off.

So, now you know everything about how proximity chat will affect Warzone 2.0 and all other COD games going forward. Be sure to take a look at some of our other fantastic Warzone 2.0 guides as well, such as “Can You Play Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on Xbox One and PS4?”.
