How Water Changes Combat in Warzone 2.0

Water is always good for you.

There is no doubt that Activision and Infinity Ward’s latest entry for their Warzone games, Warzone 2.0, has been a hit amongst players. It singlehandedly reinvigorated the formula by adding new elements to push gameplay forward, opening doors for unique situational gameplay moments.

And no one aspect of that is more significant than the inclusion of water. So today we’re going to talk about how water changes combat in Warzone 2.0 so that maybe you get a better idea of why it’s important to utilize in your own gameplay.

How Water Changes Combat in Warzone 2.0

There are four main ways that water actually changes combat a bit, and we’ll break down each of them to explain their importance. Let’s get into it!

Water Opens Up Opportunity for More Stealth Strategies in Warzone 2.0

The biggest thing to take into account with water is its inclusion in Warzone 2.0 means you can use it at your disposal in those instances where you want to catch a rival team off-guard. Though water is typically very low from the ground in Al Mazrah (Warzone 2.0’s map), it’s still a great way to sneak up on your enemies slowly, provide recon as you scope the area while your team moves in, or provide hidden cover fire as your team retreats. You can submerge yourself for even more coverage.

Water Makes it Easier to Get Across the Map in Warzone 2.0

Another huge aspect of water is that, because of boats, now players can get around and through the map much faster. This helps with escaping from enemies, going after supply drops, or even just beating the circle(s). It’s invaluable in this newly updated mechanics of gameplay to really use those boats, as they are criminally underrated in terms of the strategy that could be applied to their use.

Water Allows for Covered Escapes in Warzone 2.0

A big use of water for me personally, is for the art of escape. If you find yourself outgunned, outnumbered, and injured, one of the best ways to escape is to jump into the water, dive down, and swim with the flow of the stream. Moments like this are crucial as they can save you quite a bit. Another cool aspect about water is that if you die in DMZ, your teammate can still revive you even if you’re submerged.

Water Makes You Feel Like an Action Hero in Warzone 2.0

The last element of water, which is kind of more of a fun fact, is that you won’t take damage landing in it, so long as it isn’t shallow. I’ve tested many times, jumping from the plane at the beginning of a Battle Royale match, landing straight into the water with no parachute pulled, and have lost no health whatsoever. So this means that if you’re needing to make a big escape from Highrise in Al Mazrah City, and need to take a swim to do so, then go for it!
