The Call of Duty franchise is riding a high right now with the recent, historical release of Modern Warfare 2 and the upcoming Warzone 2.0 releasing in mere hours. But ahead of the game’s launch, players are scratching their heads about the new multiplayer experience within Warzone 2.0, DMZ.
This new mode is similar to other games such as Vigor and Escape from Tarkov, offering players a survival mode that’s more about scavenging for supplies and taking on missions, instead of just shooting everyone in sight. So, is DMZ going to offer players some new guns and other weapons to unlock and bring over to Warzone 2.0 and even Modern Warfare 2? The answer is yes! Infinity Ward has made it clear in a recent blog post that DMZ is actually going to offer a few ways for players to actually unlock goodies to bring over to both Warzone and MW2’s multiplayer.
Firstly, DMZ features weapons that are marked as Contraband. These Contraband weapons are only able to be used within DMZ mode, but the cool thing is that acquiring Contraband weapons will actually unlock the base for you in MW2 multiplayer and the other Warzone modes. Though, this isn’t anything too special.

What’s more notable is that players that carry out Faction Missions across Al Mazrah for the Legion, White Lotus, and Black Mous factions have the opportunity to unlock what Infinity Ward calls “significant unique rewards”. Right now, there are two specific weapons up for grabs; the M13B Assault Rifle and the BAS-P SMG which, of course, can be used across MW2 multiplayer and Warzone.
Additionally, players can complete missions and challenges in-game for more than just weapons and guns as well. Double XP Tokens, Calling Cards, Weapon Charms, and other cosmetic items are said to be on the table for players to unlock over the course of their time in the DMZ mode.
