Hospital Map Overview

The Hospital Map is divided into multiple floors that can and will keep you on the edge of your seat. However, much like every Demonologist Map, the majority of the paranormal activity within Hospital will take place on the Ground Floor of the Hospital. There are much more occurrences of paranormal activity that can easily destroy your sanity and also increase the chances of a Hunt starting. You need to make sure that in the Hospital you are prioritising your sanity and safety above all else as the Hospital is much scarier and more difficult than the others. The hallways and side rooms of the Hospital are incredibly dark and you will likely spend the majority of your time in pitch-black with the Crucifix in hand so that you do not die.

With every Map you have a different Objective in order to unlock the Exorcism. In the Hospital, players need to find the Gun Parts to build the Salt Gun which can then be used in hand to turn the Hunt into your hands and take out the entity when it next rears its ugly face.

What Tools to Take

Unlike the previous Maps in Demonologist where you can get away with taking in only the essential Tools into the match, the Hospital is a more brutal Map to play on. With pitch black corridors, regular jumpscares and a larger setting to work with, your Tools must be divided into Observation Tools and Safety Tools. The focus instead shifts from Exorcising the entity to being safe whenever possible as at any point you can lose your sanity and incite a Hunt. For this reason we highly recommend that you have a Crucifix on you. We actually put this above Sanity Pills where these can be useful on Cyclone St but less useful than the Crucifix in the Hospital. The reason for this is that you are highly likely to be hunted in Hospital where a Crucifix will be your most important Tool in the game.

With your safety put at the forefront we then move onto your default, essential Loadout for the Hospital. Ignore Tools such as the Ouija Board, Tarot Cards and Voodoo Doll. The reasons for this is because all of these items will deplete your sanity incredibly fast and the identification process can be much longer than Abandoned House and Cyclone St. You need as much time as possible to both observe your data and Exorcise and this can only be done if your sanity is kept high enough throughout.

For your basic Tools we recommend the EMF Reader, ESG Device, Spirit Box, Ecto Glass, Easel Canvas, UV Light and of course, a Flashlight. The Flashlight will keep your sanity in check at the bare minimum. Of course if you find that you are losing sanity too fast in the Hospital, opting to take in Candles with you as opposed to the UV Light is a possibility. The rest however are very much needed throughout your Hospital playthroughs. Your sanity will be the most watched thing in the Hospital, therefore if you are playing with friends you must get someone to carry in a Tripod Camera so that you can watch the Easel Canvas and ESG Device when it is in use. Otherwise spending too much time looking at these Tools can greatly reduce your sanity unneccessarily.

But if you are a Solo Hunter, it is possible to identify the Entity Type without using the Tripod Camera and HQ. Wondering how to beat the Hospital for your first time on the third Demonologist Map? Here we will provide you with our tips and tricks on how to survive in the Hospital below.

How to Beat Hospital

There are multiple Easter Eggs and references throughout the Hospital but just like Cyclone St, these are not essential to beating this Map. These should only be done for those that want to 100% explore and complete the Hospital. One of these Easter Eggs is locating the Hospital Letters of the entity. You can find the first Red Letter incredibly fast in your arrival of the Hospital but should not be distracted by this as it does not help you in the long run of identifying the Entity Type.

The first thing we recommend doing is using the EMF Device to locate the Entity Room. Once found, use the Tool Spirit Box to try and converse with the entity. These can be ticked or crossed off your Evidence List quite quickly so long as you find the Entity Room within the first 5 minutes of your playthrough. Repeatedly use the Mic and check for freezing temperatures (breath visual) as this can be a great indicator of the Entity Room also. With the Entity Room found, you want to play this as you would any other Map in that you place down the ESG Device and Easel Canvas. Before you place down the ESG however, check that your sanity is high enough so you can stand and watch for the entity image to appear above the ESG. You should use when your sanity is over 80%.

With the ESG and Easel placed, wait for a possible response. Hopefully one of these give you a visual response so you can tick or cross off more Entity Types off the List. Throughout your exploration of the Hospital you will see and experience far more scares than the other Maps. For that reason you should be moving the Crucifix into every room you check. Whenever you see something supernatural that appears targeted, refer to the audio cues of clangs and equip the Crucifix as soon as possible. When the site appears safe, use the UV Light to check for Fingerprints and the Ecto Glass for Plasma Stains. These can appear on any wall or doorway, outside of the Entity Room.

How to Complete Randomized Optional Objectives

When you believe that you have the correct Entity Type the next goal is to hit those Optional Objectives to Exorcise the entity. You will need to locate all parts of the Salt Gun which has random spawn points. In general, you can find these on the floor in hallways or atop furniture in larger rooms such as the Lobby. For a full guide on the Salt Gun, see here. The Salt Gun is located on the Receptionist Desk and once all parts are found you must use it against the entity once it shows itself. This will most likely be when it tries to attack you in a Hunt. One bullet against the entity will destroy it.

In v.0.3.0, new Optional Objectives have been added into the game in order to spruce things up and keep the Ghost Hunters on their toes. The new Objectives are:

  • Upload Files to Laptop USB
  • Locate the Lost Note
  • Stand on the Pentagram for 30 secs
  • Locate the Cauldron and Find 3 Rats to Put inside
  • Locate the Bags of Salt
  • Find and Catch Ghost Orbs

Keep in mind that these Objectives are randomized and you will not know what you have to complete until you identify the Entity Type.

How to Survive Hospital

Like we always suggest in our Map Guides, you really need to prioritise your sanity whenever possible. To do so, you should regularly leave the Hospital to keep your sanity in check. You should look at your Sanity Level whenever you go to HQ for your Tools and the moment you start the game bring your Crucifix with you and place down in every room as you explore the Hospital grounds in case of the Hunt. The Crucifix will most certainly save your life. If you are playing with friends, it is important that you all are holding a Crucifix as a Hunt can beginning and target any one of you. The Hospital is unforgiving and will take out anyone at any given point in time of the match so always be aware of your surroundings and the noises of the entity if they get provoked.

To guarantee your survival you should never use the Voodoo Doll or Ouija Board as a Hunt will almost always ensue. With your standard Loadout, your goal becomes how quickly you can identify the Entity Type and Exorcise without upsetting the entity too much that it results in a Hunt. Of course if this happens however, the Crucifix will keep you alive. Keep in mind that the Crucifix has a one time use and once it vanishes, you know that the Hunt has ended but your sanity has also been hit by the attack. If you experience more Hunts than normal or are playing on Hard Mode, bringing in Sanity Pills with you can also save your life.
