DMZ is a rollercoaster of highs and lows. It’s an exhilarating experience to drop in, battle hostile AI and opponent operators, and then try to exfil. There is always the possibility of encountering hostile operators when executing faction missions and contracts. When the moment comes to secure your goods and exfiltrate, this risk seems to grow indefinitely. Unless you complete a hostage contract.
Bring a Tent to the Exfil Site
It is evident from both in-game experience and countless posts on social media that the majority of the player versus. player action in the DMZ will take place at exfiltration. Opposing teams may be attempting to snag their loot, or late-game players may be obtaining kills for tier 5 objectives. Sometimes a solo player will camp out other players for “fun.”
All of this, along with the aggressive AI, makes this PvPvE mode, well, a warzone. Exfil is required not just to obtain treasure and finish tasks but also to earn exfil streaks, which unlock perks. It would appear that the only way to enjoy everything that DMZ has to offer is to gamble everything on exfil.

Help me, Help you
Hostage contracts are a way to get around all of this nonsense. These missions are finished by breaking into a specific location and rescuing the prisoner that is being kept there. The hostage contract will then instruct you to accompany the victim to a designated helicopter. At this point, all that has to be done to exfiltrate is board with the hostage and depart.
If one is available to begin, this contract may be finished at any time during the DMZ match. When you are prepared to depart, start the contract and call for an exfil site that will not be indicated on the map for enemy operators, unlike the usual ones. On the DMZ runs that are required to be completed, using hostage contracts as an exfil method is a secure substitute for standard exfil.
