In action RPG games, and other titles with a lot of skill customization options, it’s common to want to respec your character often. Diablo 2 Resurrected is no exception, and if you are a new or returning player, you might not know how to do it. In this guide, we’ll show you how to respec in Diablo 2 Resurrected.

Diablo 2 is a tough game, and it’s normal to need to switch up your skills and stats occasionally while progressing through the game. Whether you hit a wall in a new act or just want to try out a different build, the process is fairly simple, as long as you know where to look.

How to Respec Skills and Stats in Diablo 2 Resurrected

There are two ways to respect your skills and stats in Diablo 2 Resurrected:

  • Completing Akara’s quest in Act I
  • Using boss Essences in the Horadric Cube

Respec at Akara

To respec your skills in Diablo 2, you will need to go back to Act I in any difficulty (Normal, Nightmare, Hell). Complete Akara’s “Den of Evil” quest, and speak with her at the Rogue Encampment. Choose the option to “Reset Stat/Skill Points,” and everything will reset for you. You can only do this once per difficulty, which means you only get three free stat and skill respecs.

For that reason, you’ll want to plan ahead and think about the best time to respec. You can refer to our build guides in our Diablo 2 Resurrected section to better plan out your optimal build.

Boss Essences

Another way to respec your skills and stats in Diablo 2 Resurrected involves the Horadric Cube. You can get the cube from the Halls of the Dead Level 3 in Act II. When you have the cube, you will need to slay all of the Act bosses on Hell difficulty, and each boss has a one in ten chance to drop an “Essence.”

Combine four different essences in the Horadric Cube and press transmute to create a Token of Absolution. There is no limit to how many Tokens you can create, so you are only limited by the amount of time needed to farm the Essences. Remember, you can also only collect these essences on Hell difficulty, so it’s not an easy feat.

That’s how to respec your stats and skills in Diablo 2 Resurrected!
