If, by some chance, you open your game to find virtually no changes, make sure your copy is updated! If all is as it should be, you should be able to go to your tabernacle and find the Blood Moon Ritual in the list of available rituals. It will cost at least 40 pumpkins, so make sure you have that much! If you’ve unlocked the cheaper rituals upgrade, that total is knocked down to 20 pumpkins.

If you’re not careful and if you don’t read the — very brief — instruction the game gives you on what the Blood Moon Festival is and what this ritual does, you might be in for a rough awakening. It’s less that the ritual does anything for you and more that it does something for your cult. Initiating this three daylong ritual will summon the spirits of your deceased followers to randomly haunt your base camp. If you can catch up with — and capture — them, you’ll unlock exclusive follower forms and decorations! It doesn’t take long to fully collect all of the additional features. There are only three new follower forms and four new decorations to acquire. In any case, get started! The event will conclude on November 10!
