How to Make a Fighting Shiny Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Give yourself a Fighting chance

There are so many methods for players to increase their Shiny chances of encountering one. As odds begin with 1/4096, players can get the Shiny Charm through completing the Pokédex or cut time by trying out the Picnic, Town or Day Skip methods. But how do you isolate a Pokémon Type? Game Freak has given players the opportunity to do so by using the Picnic function and eating a Sandwich. Specifically each Type has a Shiny Sandwich which will isolate that Type in the wild, making it much easier to Shiny Hunt. This is our guide on where to find the ingredients to make a Shiny Fighting Sandwich in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

What is a Fighting Shiny Sandwich?

A Fighting Shiny Sandwich is just one of the many that are available in the game as a means to isolate all over Types. This works by removing all other Types from your vision, leaving only Fighting Type Pokémon in the wild. The making of sandwiches via the Picnic function is limitless. Due to the wide range of ingredients that can be purchased and combined. But with every ingredient, a different effect is given. Each Type requires different ingredients to work. However, all need Herba Mystica. This is obtained predominately in the post-game therefore, players still in the base game will have a harder time crafting a Shiny Sandwich.

The sandwiches offer Meal Powers which last for a total time of 30 minutes. The game offers various recipes, with Level 1-3 effects depending on the Meal Power. Its power could be to increase catching or encountering odds. Or to obtain an increased amount of XP and dropped items from wild and Tera Pokémon. Combining the Shiny Sandwich when performing the Picnic Reset, Town Method or Day Skip for Mass Outbreaks will greatly increase your odds of encountering a Shiny Fighting Pokémon.

The Shiny Sandwich will always offer Level 3 Meal Power effects, giving you the highest possible chances of encountering a Shiny Pokémon. Using the Shiny Sandwiches are well worth your time and effort as you will likely locate far more Shiny Pokémon than not using it. Not just this but if you do not want to use the Town or Picnic Method to Shiny Hunt, simply popping the sandwich with the Shiny Charm unlocked will increase your encountering odds tremendously. Making the hunt for Herba Mystica well worth it.

Fighting Shiny Sandwich Recipes

  • Simple Fighting Shiny Sandwich – x1 Pickle, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Spicy Herba Mystica.
  • Intermediate Fighting Shiny Sandwich – x1 Herbed Sausage, x1 Salty Herba Mystica & x1 Sweet/Spicy/Sour Herba Mystica
  • Expert Fighting Shiny Sandwich – x2 Herbed Sausage, x1 Prosciutto, x1 Red Bell Pepper, x1 Green Bell Pepper, x1 Yellow Bell Pepper, x1 Bitter Herba Mystica & x1 Spicy Herba Mystica.

Where to Get Herbed Sausage

Herbed Sausage is the primary common ingredient used in the Shiny Fighting Sandwich. Depending on the amount of Herba Mystica you have already obtained will determine which recipe you follow above. Luckily the majority of the common ingredients can be purchased at one stall in particular. Players need to go to Deli Cioso, this is located in various spots around Paldea:

  • Central Paldean city, Mesagoza.
  • South-eastern town, Artazon.
  • Western town, Porto Marinada.

Its pricing is on the higher side of 400 Pokémon Dollars. For Shiny Hunting, you need to buy a lot of this product as its effects only last for 30 minutes at a time. Therefore, you may wish to follow the Simple Shiny Fighting Sandwich recipe. Players can also purchase Prosciutto and the Bell Peppers from Deli Cioso, making it one of the easier Shiny Sandwiches to make in the game. Being able to purchase the common ingredients in multiple spots around Paldea means you can easily perform a Town Reset if the Fighting Pokémon you are looking for spawns in close proximity to Artazon or Porto Marinada.

For those looking to complete the other recipes, Onion can be purchased at the Artisan Bakery. Just like Deli Cioso, this can be found in multiple Towns and Cities such as Mesagoza and Porto Marinada. You should also check in Aquiesta Supermarket inside Levincia for bulk buying items that are typically bought in multiple stalls.

How to Get Herba Mystica

Herba Mystica is essential in all Shiny Sandwich Recipes. But to obtain some can be tricky, especially for those relatively new to the game. Herba Mystica can be farmed by defeating Tera Pokémon in both 5- and 6- Star Raids. However to gain access to these Raids, players need to complete the steps below.

  • Obtain 18 Badges: Starfall Street, Path of Legends and Victory Road.
  • Beat the Area Zero Boss.
  • Post-credits, defeat the Gym Leaders again.
  • Win Academy Ace Tournament.
  • With 5-Star Raids unlocked, beat 15 5-Star Raids to unlock 6-Star Raids.

Players will have access to lower levelled Raids in the base-game however, for Herba Mystica farming, 5- and 6-Star Raids are required. Even with these unlocked however, the drop rate of these rare ingredients is extremely low. With 24% in 5-Star and 28% in 6-Star. This rate may be increased by focussing on specific Pokémon in both Raids. Due to its little difference in drop rate but huge difference in difficulty, players should stick to 5-Star Raids as they master the Tera battling.

Below is the Pokémon that drop the Herba Mystica in both 5- and 6-Star Raids. These should be the ones that you solely focus on, regardless of their difficulty.

Salty Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Avalugg
  • Blissey
  • Cetitan
  • Corviknight
  • Dondozo
  • Garganacl
  • Hippowdon
  • Orthworm

Sweet Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Blissey

  • Tinkaton

Spicy Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Annihilape
  • Blissey
  • Breloom
  • Bombirdier
  • Baxcalibur
  • Cetitan
  • Ceruledge
  • Dragonite
  • Dondozo
  • Garchomp
  • Gallade
  • Gyarados
  • Kingambit
  • Mabostiff
  • Revavroom
  • Scizor
  • Salamence
  • Staraptor
  • Tauros
  • Tyranitar

Sour Herba Mystica Raid Pokémon

  • Amoonguss
  • Armarouge
  • Blissey
  • Clawitzer
  • Cetitan
  • Dondozo
  • Glimmora
  • Gardevoir
  • Gengar
  • Magnezone
  • Volcarona

As these are guaranteed to drop Herba Mystica eventually, its small odds can be increased further. To do so, players need to focus on a smaller set of 5- and 6-Star Pokémon which are listed below. Whilst this is a harder process to stick to as the Raids offered in the game as randomized and limited to a small amount of time. You may find times between on having little to no luck in finding these Pokémon all together. But remain patient and vigilant in your search for the Herba Mystica. As this will help you tremendously in isolating Fighting Pokémon in the wild by creating the Shiny Fighting Sandwich. Unfortunately there is no other way to make this sandwich than to use the Herba Mystica.

The 5-Star small set of Tera Pokémon listed below will offer a 75% chance of Herba Mystica dropping. Whilst the 6-Star Pokémon drop rate increases from 28% to 83%. Keep these Pokémon in mind for your Herba Mystica search. Depending on the recipe you are making that is listed above, you almost always require 1 Salty Herba Mystica. However, if you are someone who has farmed a lot of Bitter Herba Mystica, the Expert Recipe should be followed to make use of these herbs.

5-Star Raid Pokémon

  • Gengar
  • Blissey
  • Glalie
  • Drifblim
  • Amoongus
  • Eelektross
  • Dondozo
  • Palafin
  • Cetitan

6-Star Raid Pokémon

  • Blissey
  • Amoongus
  • Vaporeon
  • Dondozo
  • Farigiraf
  • Cetitan

Best Shiny Hunting Methods

Gathering all of the ingredients listed above including the essential Herba Mystica will reward you with the isolation of all other Pokémon Types. Refer to our other guides on locating a specific Pokémon Type in the wilderness. A lot can be found outside of Towns or City, utilizing the resetting method of the invisible line. Alternatively, you can pop a sandwich and take down 60 Pokémon in the area of the Fighting Pokémon you are searching for. Then reset the spawn by opening and closing the Picnic. These are methods to reset the spawn around you.

If you do not like these methods, you can easily walk around on your Miraidon/Koraidon and create a distance between the Fighting Pokémon which will naturally reset the spawns as the Pokémon render in. The final method we will note is the use of the Day Skip. This is best used as a last resort on Pokémon who rarely appear or only appear in singular spawns. By Day Skipping, you will force the game to give you a Mass Outbreak which can result in getting an Outbreak of the specific Pokémon you are trying to Shiny Hunt. We recommend steering clear of hunting in the ocean as the frame rate drops can be unbearable.

Final note however, these Pokémon Types also include Paradox Pokémon. However, you cannot use the Picnic nor Town Method inside Area Zero. Therefore, the only option is to walk a short distance away from the spawns to reset them. Happy Shiny Hunting!
