How to Get the “Hearty” Achievement in Cuphead

It's time to get ... abstract ...

Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is now available, and players are scouring the new DLC for hidden and bonus content. In that vein, there are fourteen new achievements to unlock, including one called “Hearty.” In this guide, we’ll be teaching you everything needed to unlock this new achievement.

How to Unlock the “Hearty” Achievement

To unlock the “Hearty” Achievement, you’ll need to attain 9HP at a time. But, if you’ve played the main course, you’ll remember the max amount of HP you could attain was 4. So, how can you get 9HP?! It’s a lot easier than you might think!! Well; it’s easy as long as you already have certain items.

By default, the player character has 3HP. So, we have to come up with 6HP more. To bridge the gap, you’ll need to first collect 6 coins, then travel to the new DLC island. If you visit Porkrind’s Emporium (the shop), you’ll notice a new item called the Broken Relic. What does the Broken Relic do? That’s for another story. It is important to note that my experience here may not be everyone’s. You may have already acquired Twin Heart. If so, then skip ahead to the next step.

Buy the Broken Relic. It costs 1 coin, so you’d might as well. As soon as you do, it’ll pave the way for a new Charm called “Twin Heart,” which adds 2HP, but weakens your attack power. You can probably see where I am going with this. Buy the Twin Heart and equip it. OK, so now we have 5HP. It’s here where things get a little … abstract. As if this entire game isn’t abstract enough, anyway.

Head for Inkwell Isle III, then to the Finale World. Move your character around in a circle repeatedly. If done correctly, you’ll see a message that reads: “You’ve freed Game Djimmi! I grant thee infinite wishes on Simple and Regular Modes!” You may not notice any changes immediately, but as soon as you enter a boss, you’ll have 9HP. But, the achievement hasn’t popped

Enter the fight with King Dice. If you can time it right, and nab two more hearts through the roulette table, the achievement will pop. It doesn’t matter if you get hit, the game should recognize that you had 9HP at the time the battle began. If you decide not to follow through with the rest of King Dice’s battle and back out to the World Map, you’ll notice that you now have a shiny new achievement to show for it!
