To give credit where credit is due, Epic Games has done a really good job with Fortnite’s latest update, Chapter 4 Season 1. There’s just so much more to do during matches, thanks to the dirt bikes you can ride, the Augments that be used to further gameplay, and even new Oathbound Chests to find for the best rewards.
Along with all of that, there are some other new environmental things that can be found and used as you see fit. Specifically, Kinetic Ore which can be used as a major weapon against your enemies, or used to demolish buildings altogether. Today, let’s talk about how to change the direction of Kinetic Ore and how to use it in combat in Fortnite.
How to Change Direction of Kinetic Ore and Use It in Combat in Fortnite
The first thing you’re going to need to do is to locate Kinetic Ore. It’s actually very easy to find, as it’s located in Shattered Slabs. It can be found just about anywhere there and is in humongous purple chunks. The color of the stone resembles that of the Shockwave Hammer since it uses Kinetic Ore in its construction.

Once found, that’s when the fun begins. You will need to hit the Kinetic Ore with your pickaxe in order to begin to use it. As you hit it, you’ll notice that its color begins to change subtly from dark purple to a brighter magenta color. After hitting it a couple of times, stop swinging for a moment, and then it will launch. The brighter the Kinetic Ore gets, the harder it’s going to hit once it launches.
Along with that, you should see a sort of beam emitting from the opposite side of the Kinetic Ore from where you’re hitting. This shows the direction it is going to soar in once it gets going. To change the direction, simply walk around the rock and aim to towards where you’d like it to go. It’s that simple. You’re then able to use it to knock down buildings or pummel your enemies.
