How to Beat the Opening Level of the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign

The time has come! The long-awaited sequel to Infinity Ward’s 2019 entry into the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare, is here! Or at least, the campaign is. Modern Warfare 2’s campaign just became available today for players who have preordered the game digitally ahead of its October 28, 2022 release date!

And if you’re like me, then you were chomping at the bit to jump into this entry’s chaotic storyline from the moment it went live. But as always, it’ll take some time to get your bearings with a new game release, especially in Call of Duty. So, we’ve gone ahead and started playing the game, and have our own helpful guide on how you can get started and beat the opening level in Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, Strike! Let’s dive right in!

How to Beat the Opening Level of the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign

Starting the game, you’ll be coming out of a canyon set within Al-Mazram as nonother than Ghost himself. You’ll need to follow the small canyon footpath, climbing over obstacles until you reach a sniper’s nest. Below, you’ll see a small encampment of bad guys, ready for you to pick them off.

This get-together of sorts is an arms deal between Russian soldiers and General Ghorbrani. You’ll need to pull out your sniper rifle and ID Ghorbrani in order to progress the gameplay. Ghorbrani will be located near the helicopter in the upper left area of it in your view of it. He’s surrounded by guards.

Once the dialogue between you and your command ends, you’ll need to mark Ghorbrani as a target using the prompted action button or key. Once you’ve done that, a cinematic will kick in of your allies firing up a missile. You’ll then have to fly the missile remotely through various winding valleys to the target. You can invert the controls at this point if you aren’t finding them comfortable.

It;s important not to go too high over the valley or you could be required to restart the mission after being out of range for too long. After a few moments, you’ll be prompted to engage your boosters as you prepare to take out the target. Aim directly for the red diamond that appears on-screen and head right into it for impact.
