Jokes aside, we’ve probably all been in that situation where we had too many items in Diablo and weren’t sure what we wanted to do with them. Even though legendary items are more rare than some others, if you don’t sell or salvage them they will quickly pile up in your inventory and/or stash and you will need to get rid of them.

Join us as we explore what is the best solution for the mass of legendary items we all have or eventually will have.

What Should You Do With All the Legendary Items in Diablo 4?

Somewhere in the middle or late phase of the game, you’ll reach that point in the game when you simply have too many legendary (and other) items and not enough room. It’s easy to sell and salvage more common items because we know we will easily replace those, but legendaries are rare enough that we have a hard time letting go.

There is no one answer to the question “What should I do with my legendaries” because it depends on a particular situation you’re in. If you’re in the early game and you are in dire need of gold, we suggest you sell it and use the gold for other upgrades or purchases you might need. However, when you’re a little further along in the game you might want to start collecting those rare materials for late-game crafting. In that case, salvaging your legendary will be the way to go. When you salvage an item, you also get to use its skin through the Transmog system.

Pay Attention to Legendary Item Features

Whenever you’re in a dilemma of whether to keep or destroy/sell your legendary item, make sure you check its features first. Some legendaries carry essences that can be extracted later on as we explained in our article about the Occultist. You’d want to save legendary items that hold unique powers because they can be the cornerstone of future builds for your character.
