How Heavy Attacks Work in Cult of the Lamb

From what was revealed, heavy attacks will dramatically change the playstyle of each weapon. Further defining the roles each one plays, as well as giving them new ways to be used. From gameplay snippets, we can see that when using a heavy attack, a moment is needed to aim. This will introduce a risk/reward playstyle to players. During this time aiming, players will be vulnerable to damage, so they’ll need to be quick. If done properly, heavy attacks will deal big damage to targets, or be a good source of crowd control. With that being said, here’s the heavy attacks for all the weapons revealed by Devolver Digital.

Heavy Attacks Revealed So Far

Sword

As the gameplay teases, the sword will have a wide radius slam as its heavy attack. Needing a moment not only to aim but to wind up, this attack seems to do its best when not surrounded by projectiles. The move seems to be more oriented to crowd control, but we shall see how much damage it does.

Dagger

Many players don’t use the dagger for a simple reason. Being that the range is so short, they have to get up close and personal, which leaves them vulnerable to damage. This heavy attack hopes to resolve some of those issues. Summoning a line of daggers to rain down upon foes. Four daggers over a distance seems like a good change for players, and its a good ranged attack. We shall see if this is a good way for players to try the dagger again.

Axe

And finally we have the heavy attack for the axe. Behaving much like another axe from a certain game, this heavy attack for the axe swings it out toward opponents. This Heavy Attack seems to be a two for one: doing good damage against both bosses and crowds. The only downside is that while the axe is flying, you have little means to defend yourself. It remains to be seen whether players can use spells while the axe is out of hand.
