Can you Save the Cop from Burning Alive in Resident Evil 4? Answered

Some fates are resigned to destiny. Some you will come to find, are not.

For better or for worse, no Resident Evil remake has been a 1-1 recreation of their original counterpart. This has been in part due to Capcom wanting to refresh certain areas of their games. As well as the fact that they want returning players still guessing on what might happen. Just because you’ve played the original doesn’t mean you know what’s going to happen in the remake. While RE2 and RE3 had players semi-torn about the changes made to the remakes, no where is the conversation more volatile than when talking about the RE4 remake. A game seen by many as one of the best games of all time. We’re going to keep it simple for this article and try and answer the question: can you save the cop from burning alive in Resident Evil 4?

Players starting out with prior knowledge of the game will notice very early on that this is not the same game from 2005. While it shares a plethora of similarities, it also brings a considerable amount of differences. An example will be presented in the first few minutes of the game, in the form of an animal companion. In the original version of the game, there was an option to save a dog from being ensnared in a bear trap. This would then come to fruition when you fight a boss later on with the dogs help.

Sadly, when players encounter this dog in the remake, they are met with an already perished animal and a reminder that this game is not the same Resident Evil 4, for better or for worse. The developers have opted to keep some things the same from the original game however. While we’re not going to go into story details and other key spoiler topics, it is confirmed that you cannot save the cop from burning alive in Resident Evil 4. The poor protector of the peace meets their end tied to a stake and burned alive by the deranged villagers. Which serves as a great reminder that how no matter how big or small certain encounters seemed in the original game, Capcom has combed over the entire game, leaving no polygon unturned.
