How to Skip the Village Fight in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Chainsaw Villager never saw that coming

As someone who has played through Resident Evil 4 Remake on Hardcore, learning that there is a way to skip the Village Fight in Chapter 1 is information that I was better off not knowing. With Capcom taking pleasure in making their playerbase suffer through the many hoards of enemies within the beginning portion of their Resident Evil games. From the incredibly difficult fight with the Werewolves that never let up in the starting sequence of Resident Evil 8: Village to the impossible Stand your Ground fight in Resident Evil 4. For those who do not want to fight through the Ganados and Dr. Salvador in the Remake, this guide will show you how you can skip the Village Fight all together.

How to Skip the Village Fight

When you enter the Village after seeing the Officer being burned at the stake, you will need to get into a position in which you can easily get into the Shotgun House. This is the House located just after the stake and to the left of the Church. You need to head in here first but be aware that the second you walk out into the open you will be seen by the Ganados standing by the stake. As soon as you enter the Shotgun House however, you will initiate a cutscene where the Chainsaw Villager will spawn into the Village.

As he is carving into the wooden door with the chainsaw in hand, you need to run up the stairs and exit out of the window at the top of the staircase (to your right). Jump out of this window and turn right, head to the very peak of the rooftop. Next you need to aim past the Church and into the landscape surroundings. Look between the Church roof and the cliffside on the right. You will see the Bell Tower behind the tree. It is hard to see however, but you need to aim directly at the halfway point of the Tower. The exact spot where you need to shoot is highlighted in the screenshot below.

As you shoot this you should hear the Bell ring. You need to shoot the Bell at least twice for the cutscene to initiate. This will conserve your ammo that you would have typically used to survive the Village Fight and also allow you to speedrun through this beginning part of Chapter 1.

Can you Skip the Village Fight in a New Game?

As of recent experimentation with skipping this fight, players have found no way of skipping the Village Fight in a New Game. This is because the only Weapon of choice when you start the game is Leon’s Handgun. Right now, this is incapable of hitting the Bell in the Tower. We are not sure why this does not work or if there is a way to hit it using the starting Weapon in the game but for now, the only way to successfully skip the Village Fight is to use Weapons such as the Rifles in the game: SR M1903, Assault Rifle or the Sniper Rifle. These Weapons are transferred over in a New Game+, therefore anyone attempting this in their first playthrough of Resident Evil 4 Remake will not be able to skip the Village Fight.
