Such a shame...

A lot of fans are clamoring at the bit wondering if you can ride the Hogwarts Express in Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts’ private locomotive has been an integral part of the Wizarding World for decades now, so of course everyone wants to ride it. However, you don’t use it to get to Hogwarts at the start of the game, leaving a lot of people confused, or potentially disappointed.

Unfortunately, no, you cannot ride the Hogwarts Express in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite the train holding a special place in fans’ hearts, it hasn’t been implemented in-game, for the most part. This, along with Quidditch, are two of the most noticeable absences in Hogwarts Legacy alongside Wizard Chess and Gobstones.

While you can’t ride the Hogwarts Express in Hogwarts Legacy, you can see it. The train runs along a train track that extends between Hogwarts Valley and the South Hogwarts Region. The train doesn’t always spawn in, but if you hover around near Hogsmeade Station, you’re bound to see it eventually.

It makes sense that you wouldn’t be able to ride the train. Given the fact that our character has entered Hogwarts as a fifth year, through extraordinary circumstances, there’s no reason for us to be on the train in the first place. In fact, if we were on the Hogwarts Express, Hogwarts Legacy’s main story would not have happened at all.
