The latest Free-to-Play Game Mode, as part of Modern Warfare 2 introduces players to an infusion of Battle Royale with old school Spec Ops Missions. The goal is to survive but it is not as though you are required to be the last alive on the Map. Instead, you must survive deployments by upgrading your equipment and completing Faction Missions to gain contraband weapons and XP. The main combat mechanic of the game is PvE. Many of the enemies you will face inside the map of Al Mazrah are AI, including named location Bosses which you can face when you are prepared to take them on. Similar to that of Escape from Tarkov, where you must exfil upon completing objectives inside Faction Missions, DMZ is a welcoming change to the core gameplay of Call of Duty’s Multiplayer.
Do You Need to Play With a Squad in DMZ?
Whilst a lot of the Faction Missions are better completed in a squad, players can indeed take on the DMZ deployments solo. Some Missions require you to play with a full team as the objectives are too difficult to complete such as Massive Stock which requires you to get kills using a specific gun at a far distance. Due to rendering issues of seeing AI enemies from 150+ meters, this Mission requires you to play with a team in order for the enemies to render in as you play from afar. However, the majority of the exfil Missions, whilst they can be played with a squad to speed up the process, you can complete these solo.
The Importance of Game Sense
Some Missions are easy to complete solo, especially when you develop your game sense and Map knowledge. With Season 2 releasing February 15th, 2023, players will have to learn once again in how to complete new Missions on the Ashika Island Map. As the Faction Missions reset, players will learn what are easier to complete on their own or with a squad. But with Season 1, most Faction Missions can be completed solo. As you get through the Faction Missions, the Tiers will increase in difficulty. Players who grew up on the original Modern Warfare will be used to this as it plays similarly to that of the Spec Ops Missions.
The Cons to Playing Solo
The downside to playing DMZ Mode on your own is with the increased stress to survive on your own. Survival is the most important aspect of DMZ. If you fail and get taken out by AI or other Operators, you will lose everything you have on you. So make sure that you play on high alert and do not take any chances that could result in failing the Mission. The Mode is split into deployments, where you have approximately 25 minutes before the Radiation Circle expands where you must then safely exfil. Keep in mind that you will face other Operators during deployment, however the main enemy will be the AI which spawn across the Map. Self Revives are available in the Mode in order to increase your survival odds.
We hope this cleared up any questions you may have had regarding the DMZ Mode. Remember that you do not need to play this Mode with a full squad, however doing so will result in gaining faster rewards and increased chances of survival.
