Can You Get More Than One Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy?

Surprising, if not unethical.

We weren’t too sure about whether or not you could get more than one Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy. You only get one Phoenix, and the Graphorn is up there with that creature in terms of prestige, so we naturally assumed that it was also a one-and-doner. We did some digging (poaching, really) though, and got some interesting results.

Yes, you can get more than one Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy. You can get as many as you want, in fact. Unlike the Phoenix, of which you can only get one, you can capture Graphorns to your heart’s content.

The catch, though, is that there’s only one Graphorn Den in the game – the same spot you fought the Lord of the Shore during the Trial of San Bakar. Only one Graphorn will spawn here at a time, and you’ll need to fight it each time you want to bring it home. You can find the Den using the image above, just in case you forgot where the Trial took place.

Graphorns are the only magical creature in all of Hogwarts Legacy that you need to fight before you can capture, almost like Pokemon. Unlike Pokemon, the Graphorn you’re fighting will spend the entire time trying to turn you into a pile of sticky goo on the floor.

These fights aren’t easy, as we’re sure you know. However, there is a massive cheese for it. If you fly into the den, you’ll notice a large rock in the middle of it. It just so happens that you can stand on that rock and be just in range of the Graphorn. Naturally, it won’t be able to hit you – so you can wack away at it without ever worrying about the creature fighting back.

This is actually a great spot to get the Raising Expectations achievement. You’re awarded this for hitting an x100 combo. That’s difficult in regular combat, but not when your enemy is standing there watching you blast it.

Once you’ve gotten the Graphorn’s health depleted, just run up to it and suck it up into your bag. It’s already down and out, so you only have to complete one quick-time event to seal the deal.

So, we’ve established that you can get more than one Graphorn in Hogwarts Legacy. That begs the question of whether or not you can breed Graphorns in Hogwarts Legacy. Well, yes, you can.

The Lord of the Shore is male, meaning you’ll need a female Graphorn to start breeding. Now, it’s not as easy as just flying over to the den and nabbing yourself a woman. From our testing, the female Graphorn seems to have a much lower spawn rate than the male. We also believe that reloading the den does not reroll the gender of the Graphorn, although we’re not certain about that.

It took us five fights to get a female, so it’ll likely take you around that many runs, too. If you do encounter a male, defeat it, capture it so you can make some Galleons off it, then wait twice (a full 24 hours). After that, fast-travel to a nearby Floo station, and fly back to the den. The wait skips the Graphorn’s respawn timer, and you’ll need to fast travel to reload the den itself.

Once you’ve got a female, bring her back to your Vivarium and mate her with any of your male Graphorns like you would any other animal.
