Players unable to join a crossplay party in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War can try the following fixes:

  • Restart Call of Duty to refresh the Friends List
  • Remove your friends and re-add them

Players are experiencing issues creating parties with players over different platforms like PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Some are met with the error reading “Failed to Join Party, Unable to join Party” when attempting to join a crossplay party. The error seems to happen regardless of platform, so players are primarily experiencing it when joining crossplay parties. One of the main problems is people cannot see if their friends are online in Call of Duty Cold War. There are some workarounds you can try to resolve this issue, though.

First, if you are on PC, try restarting Battle.net and reloading your Friends List. Doing this can sometimes get your friends to show up, and you can now invite them to your game. It is not a surefire fix, but it does work in some instances. Sometimes, one player could see all the friends online on their list, whereas they show as offline for everyone else. If that’s the case, the one player who sees everyone online could try forming the party and inviting everyone.

Another potential solution is removing your friends and re-adding them. Doing this seems to refresh the status, and you may now be able to see them online. Open up the Social Menu and select the player you wish to remove. Make sure you take note of their Activision Account Name and ID so you can easily add them again after. You should now be able to see your friends online and invite them to a party with no issues. It may take many tries for this to work, but it beats not being able to play Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War with your friends.
