As a Hunter main since day one of Destiny 1 – I feel like I’m in a unique position to comment on what I think the best Hunter builds for Destiny 2 Lightfall are. In particular, I’ve selected my top three personal favorite Hunter builds that I think will hold up heading into the Lightfall Legendary campaign.
Each one of these builds is tried and tested by yours truly – so I’m not just mashing things together and seeing what sticks. I’ve painstakingly perfected each of these Destiny 2 Lightfall Hunter builds for my own personal use. I’m putting my heart on a platter for you here.
Destiny 2 Lightfall – Best Hunter Builds
Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk Void Hunter Build
I would consider this the best Hunter build for Destiny 2 Ligthfall. It’s been my go-to since Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk was released, and with the Ligthfall Void Fragments – it’s gotten a whole lot better.
This build is all about offensive survivability – using your Invisibility and Volatile Rounds to get aggressive with enemies while never quite being in the line of fire. If you know how to move around an arena properly, you’ll rarely ever die with this build.
To put this Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk build together, you’ll need the following:
- Stylish Executioner – Aspect.
- Vanishing Step – Aspect.
- Cessation – Fragment.
- Starvation – Fragment.
- Undermining – Fragment.
- Persistence – Fragment.
When you put all that together, along with Gyrfalcon’s and a Void primary – you’ll have constant Invisibility, ability regen, damage buffs, and more depending on how you spec your mod loadout.
This build will keep you alive, and keep outputting damage – at all levels of gameplay. If you’re looking for a Hunter build to put on and never take off – this is it.

Assassin’s Cowel Arc Hunter Build
I’ve always had a fascination with the Hunter’s Arc 3.0 subclass. It’s absolutely S-tier for most activities in the game, but it falls off hard for high-end PvE stuff thanks to its reliance on melee kills. Well, after a lot of experimenting, I found a melee-based Arc Hunter build that works fairly well even in Grandmasters.
Sure, it’s not the best, but if you know how many punches an enemy takes before it’s dead, you can absolutely run it to great add-clearing effect.
The Aspects and Fragments I’m using for this build are:
- Lethal Current – Aspect.
- Flow State – Aspect.
- Magnitude – Fragment.
- Resistance – Fragment.
- Ions – Fragment.
- Shock – Fragment.
Exotic-wise, you have two options. If you’re running regular activities, meaning anything below Legendary difficulty, you’ll get the most use out of Liar’s Handshake. This will amplify the damage of your melee, letting you effectively kill everything in a room with a single punch.
For anything harder than that, Assassin’s Cowl is a must. This helmet will make you Invisible and grant healing on powered melee kills and finishers. If you’re brave enough to run a melee build at end-game, then you’ll want this to save your ass when things inevitably go south.
Renewal Grasps Stasis Hunter Build
Last but not least, we have an odd little build that I think is being slept on. Not only is this the Hunter build I run in PvP, but it’s actually usable in high-end PvE activities, too. It takes advantage of the Renewal Grasp Exotics to buff Stasis’ Duskfield Grenade. These grenades are a favorite of mine in Crucible – but they’re great for PvE add-control, too.
This isn’t the most optimal Stasis Hunter build in the world – but it is the most flexible. You can run this in practically whatever you want and still be able to keep up with the Starfires and Gyrfalcon’s.
To put this Destiny 2 Stasis Hunter build together, you’ll need the following Aspects and Fragments:
- Touch of Winter – Aspect.
- Grim Harvest – Aspect.
- Durance – Fragment.
- Shards – Fragment.
- Torment – Fragment.
- Rim – Fragment.
- Conduction – Fragment.
Stasis builds have lost quite a bit of power with the removal of Elemental Shards and Supreme Wellmaker. However, having access to a whopping five Fragment slots sort of makes up for that. When I said this was the most flexible Hunter build in the game – that’s what I meant.
This is a phenomenal foundation to build upon as you please. It has great defense, offense, and ability regeneration, all of which can be specced into harder if that’s the route you want to go down.
The same can be said of the Exotic. I like Renewal Grasps because of its ease of use and value factor, but there’s nothing stopping you from running something like Star-Eater Scales if you want to.
That’s all I’ve got for you. As a Hunter main of over eight years, those are my top three Destiny 2 Hunter builds for Lightfall. You can expect Strand to take a slot in that list, once everyone’s had a chance to get their hands on it. For more Destiny 2 content like this – be sure to follow Gamer Journalist on Facebook.
