Destiny 2 – How to Get Echo of Cessation

This is one of the best Fragments we've seen thus far.

We’re going over how to get Echo of Cessation in Destiny 2. This is a new Void Fragment introduced with Ligthfall, and it’s one worth getting excited about. While this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, there is a subsection of Guardians for whom this Fragment may as well be the second coming of the Traveller itself.

Thankfully, getting your hands on Echo of Cessation is pretty easy. Unlike Strand, this is one of the new Light 3.0 subclass Fragments available to players immediately after logging into Destiny 2 post-Lightfall.

When you first boot up the game, you’ll obviously be thrown straight into the story campaign. Once you finish the first mission – be warned, it’s a long one, you’ll be put into the Neptune Patrol Zone. From here, you’re free to return to the rest of the system without risking any progress.

When you have this freedom, make your way over to Ikora Rey in the Tower. Interact with her and you’ll see a menu for each subclass pop up. Select the Void subclass, then navigate to Fragments.

You’ll Find Echo of Cessation here, along with any other Void Fragments you don’t currently have unlocked. Each Fragment costs:

  • 25,000 Glimmer.

That’s pretty cheap – especially compared to just how good Echo of Cessation is. Once you purchase it, interact with the globe next to Ikora to unlock it for use in your builds.

Echo of Cessation is a game-changer for Void Hunters. The Fragment causes Void Breaches to spawn every time you kill an enemy affected by Volatile, with a short cooldown in between. In reality, it’ll be every two enemies you kill, which is still incredible when you consider that Breaches are the new Elemental Well.

For Hunters, this is an obvious pairing with Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk. That Exotic already enabled the best Void Hunter build in the game, but this Fragment takes it to new levels altogether.

That’s not to say that other classes can’t get any value out of it, though. If you combine it with Echo of Instability, which causes your grenade kills to grant Volatile, you could be able to get a decent amount of value out of it.

For most people, it’ll be an interesting option worth playing around with. For Void Hunters – it’s mandatory.
