The Gears of Dreadlands set is the centerpiece of this build. This set provides a number of bonuses to your demon hunter’s damage, mobility, and survivability. It consists of six pieces that you need to equip to get the full benefits. The set can only drop on Torment difficulty. If you don’t have the complete set yet, you can use any of the pieces you have until you complete the set.

The Gears of Dreadlands set will trigger these effects:

  • Hatred generation (only if it hits anything; also allows to Strafe forever while shooting Primary abilities)
  • Simplicity’s Strength healing bonus
  • Wraps of Clarity (only if it hits anything)
  • All direct damage bonuses
  • All Legendary powers such as Odysseys End or The Ninth Cirri Satchel
  • All Skill runes and all their modifiers

The other essential gear pieces for this build are:

  • Dawn: This one-handed crossbow reduces the cooldown of Vengeance by 50-65%, allowing you to use this powerful skill more frequently.
  • Simplicity’s Strength: This gem increases the damage of your primary skills by 100-150%, making them much more effective.
  • Hunter’s Wrath: This belt increases the damage and speed of your primary attacks. Your Primary skills attack 30% faster and deal 150% – 200% increased damage.
  • The Ninth Cirri Satchel: Attack Speed increased by 15.0% – 20.0%. Hungering Arrow is guaranteed to pierce and also deals 450% – 600% increased damage. Hungering Arrow can only pierce up to 4 times.

Besides the essential gear, you can also use other pieces to complement your build. You can use the Squirt’s Necklace, which increases your damage by 100% but reduces your damage reduction by 50%. Or the Aquila Cuirass, which reduces all damage taken by 50% when your primary resource is above 90%.

Skills

The Gears of Dreadlands build uses six skills, one from each category:

  • Primary: Hungering Arrow (Devouring Arrow): This skill deals high damage to a single target and generates Hatred.
  • Secondary: Impale (Over penetration): This skill deals massive damage to a single target and pierces through enemies.
  • Defensive: Smoke Screen (Special Recipe): This skill makes you temporarily invulnerable and increases your movement speed.
  • Hunting: Vault (Tumble): This skill allows you to quickly move out of harm’s way.
  • Devices: Vengeance (Seethe): This skill greatly increases your damage and Hatred regeneration for a short time.
  • Passives: Cull the Weak, Numbing Traps, Archery and Ambush.

The Gears of Dreadlands build uses primary and secondary skills to deal damage, defensive and hunting skills to move around the battlefield, and devices to increase damage output and resource regeneration. Tactical Advantage is a passive skill that complements the build’s mobility.

Playstyle

The Gears of Dreadlands build is all about mobility and damage output. The idea is to stay mobile and avoid taking damage while dealing massive damage to your enemies. Here’s how to play it:

  1. Start by using Hungering Arrow to generate Hatred. It is your primary skill, so use it often.
  2. When you encounter an elite or a boss, use Impale to deal massive damage. It is your secondary skill, and it’s the one that deals the most damage.
  3. Smoke Screen to avoid incoming attacks. Smoke Screen makes you temporarily invulnerable, and it increases your movement speed. Use it often.
  4. Vault to move around the battlefield. Vault is your primary hunting skill, and it allows you to move quickly out of harm’s way. Use it to dodge enemy attacks or to get closer to your target.
  5. Use Vengeance when you need a boost in damage. Vengeance is your device skill, and it greatly increases your damage and Hatred regeneration for a short time. Use it when you need to take down a tough enemy quickly.
  6. Keep an eye on your resources and use your skills strategically. Hungering Arrow generates Hatred, and Impale consumes it. Use your skills in the right order to avoid running out of resources.

Overall, the Gears of Dreadlands demon hunter build is a powerful and effective choice for players who want to deal massive damage while maintaining a high level of mobility and survivability. Give it a try and see how it works for you!
