All Firing Range Changes in Apex Legends Season 16 Revelry

The roller players will be happy with this one

Revelry, Season 16 of Apex Legends has arrived. With many, many new changes that feel as though they should have been implemented many seasons before. However, these changes are welcomed within the community, as being changes that were much needed. From Class changes which now hold meaning within the Battle Royale gameplay, to the brilliant 24-hour Map rotation for Ranked. One of the best changes that have been implemented however, is the brand new and upgraded Firing Range. As a regular player of the game, the Range changes feel fantastic and actually purposeful as a training ground for players. These are all of the Firing Range changes in Season 16 of Apex Legends.

Firing Range Changes and New Upgrades

Gone are the days of strafing on a Bot that stands still. This was never a good method for training as no one really ever stands still in Apex Legends (unless you are crafting or controller looting). The Firing Range never did what it should do, which is provide players a place to focus on honing in their aiming and strafing skills. Now however, the Firing Range gives players full range in its customization. Players can select whether they want the Bots to stand still, strafe, run or zipline. These new changes are great for those trying to stimulate shooting an enemy on Battle Royale under different circumstances. For me, it was a teaching moment of learning how to properly track an enemy with a wide strafe.

Record your Dynamic Stats

Within the Firing Range customization, players can enable settings such as Dynamic Stats and Infinite Ammo. These allow for players to truly focus on their aiming as the Stats will show how accurate you are when shooting a Bot or one of the moving targets in the background. These update with every bullet you use. By recording headshots, overall damage, kill counter and how many bullets you have used. It is a much needed record of just how good your aim is when factoring in how many rounds you have used on a Bot. You can also enable Hit Markers, which outline exactly where every bullet of a mag goes. When it is grey, you are missing the target, red is for body shots and gold is headshots.

Your inventory does not matter as much as it used to in the Firing Range as the customization options allow you to enable Infinite Ammo. You will no longer need to repeatedly pick up any ammo as you practice your aim on the Dummies. As the Stats talley up your average and total number of bullets used, you may whilst to enable and disable this with every gun you swap to. This will allow you to appropriately access how accurate you are when using each gun available in Apex Legends. Alternatively, wait 30 seconds to 1 minute between each gun for the Stats to reset.

Watch that Dummy Movement

You can set the Dummy Movement to stand still, strafe left and right and even set the Dummies to move at random. This means they will move at different speeds at random intervals. By enabling the Crouch setting too, you will have the Dummy crouching, running and strafing all at random intervals to emulate a live scenario with an enemy within Battle Royale. The final customization option is to adjust the Shield Level. We recommend using Mythic (Red Shield) always as it will train you in one-clipping Dummies.

You may have noticed the changes in the background of the Firing Range, where the moving targets speed has been increased. This emulates the movement of players running to get a wide angle or trying to escape a situation in which their armor is cracked.

A Fluid Legend Swap-Out

Whilst this change was implemented just before Season 16, players can now easily switch between Legends. This used to be that the Legend would fall and you would have to wait to spawn in to see the Legend change. Now it is a instanteous swap out. You will also notice that your armor and loot stays with you after you die. This makes 1v1ing a friend in the Firing Range much easier as you do not need to keep disabling Friendly Fire to reset the game.

The Firing Range allows you to test out every Legend, meaning that all those locked ones will now be available for you to test their abilities and see which one works for you. If you are a more casual player or just getting started, this change is great for you. It means that any Legend you do not have unlocked is playable inside the Range. So try everyone out for yourself, see who fits your playstyle. You can use the Charge Tower to test out their Ultimates too.

A New Challenge to Take On

A new Smoke Show Challenge has been added for the meta shift towards a Bangalore Comp. This is for players who struggle to shoot inside the Bangalore smoke. As the shift towards countering controller players has been noted, this Challenge acts as a means for players to train themselves against enemies inside the Bangalore smoke. Because aim assist does not work inside the smoke, controller players should use this Challenge to emulate fighting within the smoke. The Dummy inside will move around but never shoot you. You are given a P2020 and a Digi-Threat to locate the moving Dummy. The Jackson-Bow Out and Scout of Action Challenges remain a part of the Firing Range.

Find out How Powerful Aim Assist Really is

For those on controller, players can no remove Aim Assist within the ALC Settings. Whilst this sounds like a strange thing to do, disabling inside the Firing Range can help with basic aiming and tracking. You should also use this time to try out different Sensitivities and Response Curves. Some pros like Linear over Classic, others prefer to the default. Whatever the case, every player is different and may perform greater on different settings. Take Genburten of Dark Zero as the prime example of that. You can also set the Target Compensation (Aim Assist) to work like PC (if you really want a challenge).
