10 Best Legends to Use in Apex Legends Season 16 Now That Scan Meta is Gone

Whether you are hyper aggressive or highly defensive, these are the Legends for you

The latest Season of Apex Legends sees one of the biggest changes ever in Apex history, the revamping of Classes and the balancing of many Legends. Many changes have been implemented for Season 16, including a new Map rotation system for Ranked, the removal of Arenas and a new Firing Range for players to warm-up on. With the balancing of Legends, including a Seer nerf, players may be wondering who to play for Ranked this Season. This is our ranking of the 10 best Legends to use in Apex Legends Season 16 now that the Scan Meta has officially been nerfed.

Best Legends to Use in Apex Legends Season 16

You will see that a lot of Legends that would have previously been the meta, such as Horizon, are not present on this list. This is due to her most recent nerf, removing a lot of mobility that she previously had. When comparing Horizon to other mobility Legends, she just does not come close to their effectively now in a match. This includes Legends such as Octane, who have great mobility but do not have supportive roles unlike other Skirmisher Legends.

10. Mad Maggie

Picking the tenth place was very difficult as there are a lot of great and viable Legends on the same bar as Maggie. But it is with the huge nerf on Shotguns that Maggie has been picked for this ranking. Whilst we may see an increase of Gibraltar with the Shotgun upgrades of the gold bolt, this is better used with Maggie’s kit. Being able to run fast with the Shotgun in hand, to target fortresses created by Wattson, Caustic, Newcastle or Rampart will help tremendously if any fort has been build. This Legend is key to gaining the advantage against a team who are hold up inside a building, with fences and walls covering any gaps. But by using Maggie’s kit effectively, you are able to strip down these walls and break through the defences.

Maggie is a very strong Legend if you know how to correctly use her kit. Her Ultimate should be used as times when your team have downed a player, utilizing her Tactical to tick away armor and health. She is a fantastic Legend to use against squads that like to play inside buildings and for the end game, a Maggie may be the reason you win a game.

9. Caustic

Caustic is one of the best defensive Legends in the entire game. Whilst this Legend may not have been part of this list if Ranked did not include a Rotational Map System, the ability to utilize Caustic’s kit across Broken Moon and Worlds Edge is so incredibly useful now. Whilst this Legend has seen no changes in his kit for a long time, Caustic remains one of the most balanced Legends in Apex. With the perfect balance to create a fortress which is impenetrable when the Gas Traps go off and to take on other teams with Caustic present due to his immunity in the gas makes Caustic a more viable Legend than Gibraltar.

This Legend is incredibly strong on end games where the best spot to play at is inside a building. You will hardly need to fight for your place inside a building with a Caustic on your team. Whilst you could say that a Wattson or a Newcastle is more viable than a Caustic for their Ultimate only, Caustic’s gas ticks away so much damage and is very difficult to get out of due to its large radius and slowed movements once caught in it. A well placed Caustic Ult can destroy a squad with ease, especially when paired with Legends such as Mad Maggie or Seer.

8. Seer

Speaking of Seer, this Legend is still present within our ranking of the Best Legends in Apex Legends Season 16. Our reasoning for this is that whilst this Scan Legend has been nerfed down to a more balanced kit, he is still over-powered if you know how to use him properly. Seer is a slowed down version to what he used to be in Season 15, with longer cooldowns and a shorter Ultimate duration when activated. But Seer’s changes were necessary for both the meta and to make the game more balanced as the prevalence of Seer in every game made Ranked stiff, boring and incredibly repetitive. The only way to counter Seer was to use Seer himself.

But the changes have made Seer much slower in use, which for a lot of casual players can be off-putting. The removal of regular scanning means players will need to rely more on strategic scanning and well timed Tactical cancels. But still having the ability to cancel enemies whilst healing to see how low their health is to determine if you should push is ridiculously over-powered. Not to mention, the fact that you can still use wall-hacks as his Ultimate will mean that if players try to master him, Seer may return to the meta but as a new form of Scan Legend. I really need TSM ImperialHal to get off Seer and stop showing how broken he still in because the change is meta has been great for the game.

7. Bloodhound

Although for a lot of players Bloodhound’s changes have been seen as a nerf. When in fact, his changes were crucial for the Seer nerf. If Respawn nerfed Seer, many would just switch to Bloodhound for his endless scans in Beast of the Hunt. Instead, Bloodhound is now a more balanced Legend who has both the means to play aggressive and defensive. However, with these changes, those running Bloodhound should play more aggressive than they did before. Whilst you should choose your scans at better moments than before, by scanning the White Ravens, players will regain their Tactical. This used correctly in their Ultimate will give you more scans to use.

Bloodhound is still a very viable Legend that when used with Legends such as Bangalore, they can easily wipe multiple teams. The changes for this Legend means that you will not be able to constantly rely on scans. But using Bloodhound alongside the new Beacon Scans makes this Legend just as powerful as Seer. However, their White Ravens could use a bit of work as many will fly into the ground instead of towards an enemy team. When this is fixed though, Bloodhound can easily become the new meta, especially for players looking for an effective Scan Legend.

6. Bangalore

Moving away from Scan Legends as the meta has swiftly changed, Bangalore is our second pick for Assault Legends. Bangalore has to be on this list for her effective Smoke Launcher which can not only do damage but also completely disable aim assist. As a controller player, I can vouch for this being a fact. Bangalore is a highly offensive player, perfect for those salivating at the thought of third-partying every fight in a match. This Legend is the perfect choice if you are an edge player, as demonstrated by Furia HisWattson. Her pick rate has increased tremendously due to her being the best counter against controller players as many, including Pros are making the switch the controller.

Being part of the Assault Class means that Bangalore can pick up extra ammo and nab herself some great early attachments for weapons. This makes Bangalore a real threat at the beginning of the game. Her ability to run away from fights like an Octane Tactical and to trick or hide players within the smoke whilst healing or trying to distract enemies makes Bangalore the best Assault Legend to use in Season 16.

5. Valkyrie

Although the buffs for Pathfinder and Wraith put them above Valkyrie as a Rotation Legend, Valkyrie is still a fantastic Legend to use in Ranked. Her nerf on the height decrease in her Skyward Dive has made her a less sought after Legend, with many choosing other mobility Legends over Valkyrie throughout Season 15. But Valkyrie may be the best Legend for mobility for Season 16. Her jet packs last an incredibly long time, especially when only used to reposition in a fight. With the ability to instantly and repeatedly reposition, Valkyrie is the perfect Legend to take wide angles, crack armor and reposition immediately afterwards.

Out of all of the Skirmish Legends Valkyrie has the best movability kit. She can avoid the effect of Cannons and temporary stuns for falling from a great height, similar to Horizon’s passive. Because of this Valkyrie should still be used in Season 16, players just need to master the height of her Ultimate and where they can and cannot use it in order to master this Legend’s altered kit.

4. Pathfinder

Pathfinder has seen a massive buff as part of Season 16. His Passive increased his Ultimate cooldown through the use of Zone Beacon Scans, but now he can increase the cooldown by using the Care Packages as part of the new Skirmisher Class. Depending on where the care packages land on the Map, Pathfinder can get multiple Ultimates at once, but it is rare. You can also increase his grapple cooldown, making Pathfinder a stronger Mobility Legend than previous Seasons. But his Ultimate buff of the increased Zipline and speed of which you will travel across makes Pathfinder one of the best Rotation Legends in Apex.

Pathfinder should be used similarly to Valkyrie, moving in on enemies whilst taking a wide angle, playing more like a solo and getting a pick off a squad and then using his grapple to leave the area and reposition. With well executed grapples, Pathfinder can be much harder to shoot down than Valkyrie.

3. Wraith

Wraith is back and with the best assault kit in the entire game. This Legend had a lower pickrate in the previous Seasons but this will all change with Season 16. Usually run by Streamers such as Faide and Lyric, Wraith was almost always played by movement Gods. But with her recent buff, Wraith may become the most picked Legends with Horizon Mains making the switch to her. This Legend has seen the increase of both speed and length of her Portal. Although this Portal lasts for less amount of time, its upgrade is still far more powerful and viable than it was previously.

This Legend still has one of the best Tacticals in the entire game, being one of the best, if not the best Legend that can flank and reposition without taking to much damage. Unlike other mobility Legends, Wraith has both the ability to get in and out of fights easily as a solo player or under the team dynamic using her Portal. She is the perfect all-round Legend who can help out any team and is the best aggressive Legend you can pick for Season 16.

2. Lifeline

Lifeline has and will likely always be the best Support Legend due to her highly effective rez system. Similarly to Newcastle, her ability to rez is incredibly powerful, where enemies should always focus their attention on the opposing Lifeline. Because if you do not, her team will reset time and time again with her around. Lifeline has been buffed for Season 16, with her Ultimate coming down instantly after being called in, giving players resources that are desperately needed for that moment in time. This behaves somewhat similar to Loba’s Black Market, although you cannot choose what you want from the Package.

But Lifeline will no longer be slowed during her revival of her teammates, meaning that she can continue to add pressure so that her teammates have enough time to be rezzed and armor swap or apply a battery. This alongside having the ability to craft her teammates Banners makes Lifeline the ultimate Support Legend. No longer will you need to wait for a Squad to leave the area or risk being caught out trying to great your teammates Banner. Lifeline will remain at the top of Support Legends and is a fantastic Legend to use if you are solo queueing in Ranked.

1. Loba

Our number one pick for Apex Legends Season 16 is Loba. This may come as a surprise, especially for casual players, but Loba is the perfect balance between aggressive and defensive plays. Whilst this is not the number one Legend to use for Pub matches, there is no Legend better for Ranked. This is because of her recent bug fix for her Bracelet Tactical, allowing her to move from A to B in a very short span of time, perfect for repositioning or getting out of a bad situation. This combined with her Black Market and the new Class ability to craft Banners makes Loba a fantastic support character.

Unlike other Support Legends who are more defensive in their playstyle: Gibraltar and Caustic, Loba can be played as a fragger who supports her team from behind the scenes with her Ultimate and Class. Because of this, Loba is currently, the Best Legend to use in Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry.

What do you make of our list? Do you agree with this ranking? Who will you be running for Ranked? The Aim Assist Gods are with me on Loba, Pathfinder, Vantage and Lifeline.
