When Does Mixtape Playlist Release in Apex Legends Season 16? Answered

Goodbye Arenas, you were never good to me

Apex Legends Season 16: Revelry has been the biggest Season to exist in regard to gameplay changes. Respawn have taken a more thorough approach in revamping Legends and generally adding polish to the old Apex System. Whilst no new Legend has been added to Season 16 due to the overhaul for the 23 Legends, players have a lot to enjoy with Revelry. With the Season beginning under the Anniversary Event and more changes soon to come, players for the first time in a long time can experience a Battle Royale game where a lot of care has been put into it. One of these big changes is the Mixtape Playlist. But what is it and when does it release in Apex Legends Season 16?

What is the Mixtape Playlist?

Mixtape is a new Playlist that will be added to Apex Legends during Season 16: Revelry. It is a rotating Playlist, meaning that players will get access to multiple Limited Time Modes over a short period of time, similar to the new Ranked Map Rotation update. Arenas have been permanently removed from the game, including the Ranked System for it. Meaning that there is a huge but not really missed gap to fill. However, players can and do indeed get bored of the same gameplay over and over as Apex Legends at heart is a Battle Royale game. Respawn will regularly add Limited Time Modes to see what the playerbase is enjoying in regard to playing a more casual mode.

This introduces the latest addition to the Apex Legends Game Mode roster, Team Deathmatch. A long awaited Mode due to the success of the Control LTM. But with this new addition, players may be wondering where Control has gone. That is where Mixtape comes in. The Mixtape Playlist will bring back all of the Limited Time Modes, previously seen in special Apex Events. The first Playlist will include Gun Run, Control and Team Deathmatch. Season 16 currently only includes Team Deathmatch to let players settle into this new casual mode. But the rotation of the Playlist is coming soon.

When Does the Mixtape Playlist Launch?

The Mixtape Playlist will become a permanent mode from March 7th, 2023. That gives players three weeks to enjoy the new Team Deathmatch. But this will not go anywhere after the three weeks have passed. This permanent mode will be added into the rotating Mixtape Playlist, along with Gun Run and Control to start. As the Seasons go on and regular updates are performed for Apex, players will likely see more LTMs added as a permanent feature to the game. Including Apex Solo (a Free-for-All style mode for the solo Battle Royale experience), Shadow Fall (Infected style mode where players come back as Shadows after being killed) and Winter Express. It would be highly interesting if Respawn added a permanent third-person mode into the Playlist but this will be unlikely.

For now however, players will get a wider range than what we would typically see when heading onto Apex Legends. In just 18 days, players will get Pubs, Ranked, Gun Run, Control and Team Deathmatch as permanent modes, here to stay for gameplay variety.
