Fortnite has proven itself to be one of the major pillars of the game streaming scene. Whether it’s livestreams on Twitch or let’s plays on YouTube, people love to record themselves getting up to various shenanigans in Fortnite. Of course, this is a lot easier if you play the game on a PC or social-focused game console. If you’re playing on a Switch, then things get a little more complicated. So, how do you record Fortnite on Switch?

How Do You Record Fortnite On Switch?

Unlike the likes of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, the Nintendo Switch doesn’t really specialize in social gaming matters. The console isn’t really powerful enough to facilitate things like livestreams, at least not on its own. If you had a capture card and a sufficiently powerful PC to render the footage, then you could get long footage from your Switch pretty easily.

If you don’t have that stuff, though, then you only have one other option: the Switch’s built-in video capture feature. You know the screenshot button on your left Joy-Con? Well, if you hold that button down for a few moments, your Switch will quickly compile a video file of everything that happened in the last 30 seconds of the game you’re playing. These files are saved to your Switch’s internal memory, located in the Album section of your home menu, where they can be shared to certain social media platforms or sent directly to a phone or computer over a local internet connection.

Unfortunately, 30-second videos aren’t enough to sustain something like a Twitch or YouTube channel. However, if you wanted to make Fortnite videos for something like Twitter or TikTok, then 30-second videos may be a little more tenable.
