Romancing with companions and other characters has become the favorite sub-plot element of the game that players want to explore in Baldur’s Gate 3 as there are multiple options in this area. When you decide to start a relationship (or a fling) with someone, you must carefully approach the character you like and develop a bond before anything more can happen. What are the Best Romance Choices in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Currently, the best choices for a romance in Baldur’s Gate 3 are Gale, Astarion, and Shadowheart. They all offer some kind of amusing story that will serve as a fun addition to your main adventure. Of course, other characters spice things up in their own way and if you wish to start a relationship with them don’t let us stop you!
You can romance at least 8 characters for now in Baldur’s Gate 3 and they are Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, Lae’zel, Wyll, Karlach, Minthara, and Halsin. Two more, Minsc and Jaheira, are being discussed as possible romance partners but they haven’t been confirmed yet.

3. Astarion
You meet Astarion in Act 1 and can start making moves towards him as soon as you meet him. This High-Elf Rogue full of trickery skills is pretty difficult to seduce as he likes to cruelly mock others and would even sometimes openly cheer for your enemies. It would be like walking on eggs trying to please someone like him, but it’s not impossible. Another trait that he admires greatly is personal loyalty so always make sure you play that card when talking with him.
If you’re a player that enjoys doing evil things then Astarion will be your perfect partner! Once you enter a relationship with him he will shower you with gifts and attention and will hate everyone who comes near you. Where that will lead, only time and your approach to him can tell!
2. Gale
A wizard who decided he wanted to be the very best like no one ever was! Just kidding, but he does have a goal of becoming the best wizard out there and if you keep him in your party he might just achieve that! You’ll find him in Act 1 and he is one of the companions with whom you can get close quite easily since you only need to follow the general outlines of a good guy character to get him to like you.
Gale admires heroic acts that you commit so make sure that each time you have an opportunity to try and save an NPC or fight someone for a good cause you do it. This will bring you closer to Gale faster.
This Human Wizard is an amazing boost to your party that you wouldn’t want to miss both as a companion and as a romantic partner. He has a complex backstory and the longer you are close to him the more about it you will learn. But, to some players, the unraveling of his story seemed mysterious and even suspicious. However, you can’t know the whole thing unless you dig deep, can’t you?
1. Shadowheart
Shadowheart, a High Half-Elf Cleric will be found in Nautiloid where you will have a chance to save her (what a great start to a romance story, eh?) but even if you don’t you will get her to join your party in another way. Since she is a secret and a stealthy type of companion she will admire these skills in others as well. So, each time you increase your persuasion, deceit, insight, etc. you will win points with her.
As you get to know Shadowheart you realize how truly compassionate she is and reveal that she has a great backstory that includes her secret mission. You will find out that this mission required her to erase all her memories which creates a thriller-movie inside a video game where you get to discover her character and her past. And if you discover enough of that, you will probably find out a lot about her future.
