Hogwarts Legacy Rescuing Rococo – Should You Return or Keep Rococo?

In Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll end up stumbling across a side quest by the name of Rescuing Rococo. Despite being a random, nothing side-quest, it poses one of the most morally challenging decisions we’ve ever seen in a game – should you return Rococo to Agnes, or should you keep the little furball for yourself? 

We’re going to go over whether you should return or keep Rococo. We’ll outline the advantages and disadvantages of each, so you hopefully get a better idea of whether or not the niffler is worth the hassle.

Should You Return or Keep Rococo in Hogwarts Legacy 

Whether or not you keep Rococo in Hogwarts Legacy at the end of the Rescuing Rococo quest is entirely up to you. There is no right or wrong decision, it all depends on how you feel about kidnapping some poor woman’s lifelong pet.  

When you return Rococo to Agnes, you’ll have three options: 

• Return Rococo to Agnes.  
• Return Rococo to Agnes for a reward.  
• Keep Rococo. 

If you return Rococo to Agnes, she’ll be over the moon and you’ll be rewarded with Niffler Fur-Lined Hat. This is arguably the morally correct thing to do, and the quest rewards themselves are still more than worth the effort the quest requires.  

If you decide to return Rococo in exchange for a reward, it’s a similar situation. As well as the base rewards, you’ll also get a handful of Galleons. Agnes won’t be too mad about this – she did send you off into a den of armed mercenaries in search of a glorified platypus.  

Lastly, if you decide to keep Rococo, Agnes will obviously be very distraught. Regardless of whether or not you think it’s right to return the niffler to its owner, you still are ultimately stealing some poor woman’s pet.  

If you decide to keep Rococo, you will get the base rewards, as well as Rococo himself for your Vivarium. Like the other named creatures in the game, Rococo doesn’t actually have any practical advantages over a regular niffler.  

There is no clear advantage to keeping Rococo, but if you’re a completionist, you will want to have all the uniquely named creatures you can.  

So, you can return Rococo for some gold, return him outright, or keep him and upset Agnes. If you’re evil enough to steal the poor little thing – feel free. There are no larger consequences to this decision, beyond the weight on your conscience.
