When it comes to organizing your spell diamond, there are two things to keep in mind: Consistency, and versatility.

Let’s start with consistency.

When we talk about consistency with your spell diamond organization, we’re talking about what slot each type of spell is assigned to.

Your primary combat spells are either red, blue, or yellow, meaning that color combination will be taking up most of your spell diamonds in general.

You’ll likely be switching between diamonds as you fight, so it’s important that all your diamonds have spells that correspond to the same input.

For example, if you’re on PlayStation 5 and have Accio as your ‘X’ spell on one diamond, your other diamonds should all have blue spells in the ‘X’ slot, as well. The same goes for PC and number inputs.

These spells tend to do the same kind of thing:

  • Blue spells launch.
  • Red spells deal damage.
  • Yellow spells extend combos / enhance damage.

The general utility of a spell is dictated by its color, not the spell itself. The main appeal of blue spells is the launching effect, regardless of if you’re using Accio or Descendo.

So, by keeping the same color spells in the same slot, you’ll be able to build up muscle memory for your combos in combat. If you know that ‘X’, ‘square’, and ‘triangle’ will give you a launcher, damage spell, and combo extender on all your diamonds, you’ll never have to glance down at it to see what spells you need to hit.

So, that’s the importance of consistency — let’s talk versatility.

There are three broad umbrellas you can fit Hogwarts legacy spells into. To learn how to organize your spell diamond, you need to know the difference between them:

  • Regular combat spells – All red, yellow, and blue spells.
  • Unforgivable Curses – All green spells.
  • Charms and utility spells – Everything else.

You’ve only got four spell diamonds to work with. Out of those four, one should be dedicated to charms with spells like Lumos and Disillusionment. You’ll be using this diamond out of combat, so you can swap spells to it as you need them.

That leaves you with three, one of which I recommend dedicating to the curses if you’re using them. The Unforgivable Curses are powerful, but have long cooldowns and are more setup-based. As such, they’re sort of one-and-done spells in combat, at least every minute or so.

That leaves you with two spell diamonds for combat, which isn’t a lot.

Despite this, you still need to be able to break any shields you face in a fight. To do that, each of your two remaining diamonds needs to have at least one spell of each combat color. Our recommendation is:

  • Two red spells for damage.
  • One blue spell for launching.
  • One yellow spell for extra utility.

If you have that composition on both of your remaining diamonds, you’ll have access to most of the damage spells, as well as the launchers you want, and the likes of Glacius. If you make sure each spell type is bound to the same input, you’ll have no issues seamlessly switching between the two as you fight your way through a battlefield.
